They really don't want us going up to Shreveport.

Wow who do you get your info from.
If ASU wins Troy doesn't give up jack, ASU earns the New Orleans Bowl under the tie-breakers. Troy goes to PJ by being 7 win under the contract there.
No combination puts the Cajuns in Indy, New Orleans, or Birmingham.
You MUST have Arizona State to win to open a shot at Houston. What happens in Troy matters to UL solely in determining if you get rings (ASU wins) or do not (Troy wins).
If Troy wins, that would keep them in the NO bowl. That would leave the PJ bowl open, and give the Cajuns a shot at that bowl.
How does this affect the Bowls?
I'm going to respectfully disagree with you that the outcome has no impact on UL. It MAY have no impact, but I feel it (an ASU win) would add to the pressure against UL getting a bid. I would be glad for a co-championship, but fear it could cost us a bowl bid. I'm afraid ASU winning would guarantee the Red Wolves and Troy a bowl bid but keep us on the outside looking in. Sorry. If I knew we'd be in regardless of tonight's outcome, I'd cheer for ASU so we could also be co-champs.
I do agree with you that Troy would NOT give up the NO Bowl if stAte wins. ASU would win its way into the bowl. I also agree it is crucial for our bowl bid to have ASU (the other one) lose.
