Even if UL's football team manages to beat Middle Tennessee on Wednesday night to become bowl eligible, the Cajuns won't be bowling in New Orleans.
That's what Sun Belt commissioner Wright Waters said in a conference call on Sunday with league athletic directors and during the league's weekly media teleconference call on Monday.
Waters cited the NCAA postseason football handbook, which states that conferences are required to fill their contracted bowl slots with seven-win teams before six-win teams. The New Orleans Bowl is the Sun Belt's lone guaranteed bowl game.
