    UL Basketball Throw back game

Saw on Athletic network that tomorrow night game is throw back to Bo's days. Wearing USL uniforms that will be auctioned off after the game. Bo is suppose to be there autographing etc. Plus all past players will be intorduced.

I remember the pants they wore during Bo's playing days. about 5-6 inches above the knees. It's not likely these players will wear this......but then again we'll see.

I think that if they went with throwback shorts as well, then they would be of a similar design to the old ones, but the current style.

the Lakers did a throwback night either last season or the one before, and decided that the shorts should be the old style. In the first half, they were playing really bad. So, at half-time, they put on their regular game shorts, the long and loose ones, and they came back and won the game or something. (As if having an NBA team go down big, only to come back and compete at the end, doesn't happen every single night)

    Just my $0.02, but . . .

I thought the "ceremony" at halftime could have been done much better. On the one hand, it was great to see Bo Lamar getting a standing O from the crowd, and the small video was snazzy. But that was it? It sure would have been nice to get the players in their jerseys, have their pictures displayed as they were introduced, and have the announcer say something more insightful than "This guy's name was called a lot in the years......." And maybe Coach Shipley didn't want to be recognized, but I honestly don't think he would have minded getting on the court to get his standing O.

It was also disappointing that Bo's name was kind of lost in the shuffle of players, some great, others not-so-memorable. He should have been the last player introduced, and I think he should have had his own video presentation listing all of the records he still owns, and interviews with people like Shipley talking about how much he meant to this program.

I really think we missed an opportunity to have a genuine "Court of Dreams" moment at the Cajundome. Next time we have a throwback game, how about putting together the best starting five of all time at UL? Imagine how much fun that would be. Start with the backcourt of Bo Lamar and Andrew Toney, and you can go from there.

I struggled to grasp what athletics envisioned when it planned the event. One of the players they announced during half time, didn't even realize it until it was mentioned to him as he walked out for the start of the second half.

As for the throwback uni's, I thought they were auctioning the ones worn last night, and was eager to add another game worn uni to my collection. But they merely brought out a stack of jerseys with former players' names sewn on the back after the game. I'm assuming they weren't game worn originals that were sitting in a closet for the past 30 years...which led me to wonder the rationale of people dropping $200-800 for them.

If you are a Cajun fan, the rationale is to help raise funds for the basketball program. If you are not, then one would question the rationale.

I bought the Jerry Flake jersey for $350. Was it a "good deal"........no. Did I get something for my $350 donation to help the program?.........Yes

The guy who bought the Bo Lamar jersey for $1200, donated it back to the University. We have some good people supporting the University.

This money goes directly to basketball. Baseball does the same thing a couple of times a year. Doing it like this lets you put your donation where you want it to be.

I believe they auctioned the current players jerseys (along with their shoes and other stuff?) off after the former players jersey auction. I left shortly before that so i may be wrong.

Oh and how funny was it when the guy bought Toney's jersey and Bo flipped open his phone and called him and then handed the phone to the fan who bought his jersey.
