One thing I hope is that if it does come down in the SBC's favor (on the appeal) that no bridges are burned with ESPN. That would be a killer for the SBC.

Our recruiting this year is going great due to us playing on ESPN2 and winning on the Hail Mary. Funny thing is, the kids don't care about us winning or the atmosphere...... the recruits are most impressed with the black jerseys we wore. Go figure.

Can a media-starved conference like the SBC afford to infuriate ESPN?

Maybe we won't exasperate ESPN (who knows what goes on behind closed doors?), but I've got a feeling we'll kowtow down to the powers that be.

Maybe the city of Lafayette should create their own bowl. Much better than Shreveport, and probably much more funding. Shreveport seems like a very poor city to me (sans the casinos)--- Lafayette seems to be a up and coming, mover and shaker.

Then maybe UL could "kick and scream" and try to "not let" LaTech into a bowl in the future.

Question: why is the WAC allowed to release Tech (a 7-5 team) and fill one of their WAC tie-ins with a 6-6 team, while the SBC can't release troy (a 7-5 team) from the N.O. bowl and allow a 6-6 team in?

Are are there more 7-5 wac teams than bowl tie-ins?

    Um, I guess that's 2 questions.

They didn't. The WAC has 4 affiliated bowls this year (one contingency) and five 7 win teams.

That's a whole different issue - one I choose not to explore here and now. lol!

    These just came out.

Yahoo shows NIU in the Indy Bowl, which I don't see possible because NIU is a 6-6 team and there is other 6-6 sunbelt teams out there.
That would be funny if NIU went to the Indy Bowl, wow what a regional location for them!!!!

Also they leave the cajuns out and put Ark. St. in the Papajohns bowl. If Ark. St. loses to Troy that would leave more 6-6 team out there, so it would be a toss up.

I can't make sense of all this.

if we win tonight and independence plays out like the above scenario shows above, the sun belt should first sue the independence bowl for brach of contract and then cajun fans should flood every news media outlet available on how the independence bowl screws teams and breaches contracts - but I would not be suprised to see independence screw the cajuns they did it before when Mitchell was qb and UL had a shot at that bowl.

The NIU to the Indy makes absolutely no sense. A team with a 6-6 record from the MAC from Northern Illinios???

Now, that was just radio talk, so don't take too much out of it.

However, a lot of belt fans seem to think that the Indy MUST take a 6-6 belt team over a 6-6 at large team and that is simply not true. The Indy agreement was only for 7+ win belt teams. They can still take any 6-6 school they want as long as there isn't an available 7+ win belt team. _
This is all very true in fact on Tim Brando's radio show on Sporting News radio he mentioned that Notre Dame at 6-6 is a possibility for the Indy Bowl. You know they would prefer them to any ULL or anyother 6-6 SBC team.

If Notre Dame is available they will take them I promise you that. NO SBC team at 6-6 is going to a bowl over a 6-6 Notre Dame.
