I think they are dying to take someone else before us, even if we might bring a larger group than NC State (probably) or the other teams (maybe). We probably wouldn't bring more than Clemson. Not so sure how Memphis and USM would travel to Shreveport (of course one of them will be in New Orleans and will likely bring more to that game). _
You are correct. Unless LaTech gets a 7-5 or better at-large to come to Shreveport, looks like the Cajuns are going to the Indy if they beat MT.

Another scenario would be Boise vs. Ball State, but that seems unlikely.

Looks like it's going to be LaTech vs. Cajuns or LaTech vs. stAte, based on the iron-clad Indy Bowl contract that Wright Waters has in his office.

Sorry KA, but I don't have much faith in this Wright Waters "iron-clad" contract of which you speak. My confidence in him is sort of "lacking", if you know what I mean.

If you read the Troy board they are not very thrilled to be going to New Orleans. We would probably have a record crowd for the NOLA bowl. Why not let the teams decide where it would be best for them and the league? With our luck we will probably make all this discussion pointless Wednesday.

I hope WW is in daily contact with all 3 of the bowls to which the SBC has a "secondary" tie-in. I am curious if the I-Bowl contract is different than the other two bowls'. I would find it very interesting if they are not essentially the same.

NCAA rules state we can't. We have one bowl slot, and it must be filled by a 7-5 team at least (if there is one). If Troy wins Saturday, they are the only belt team with those credentials.

What about this crazy scenario... Since Troy wants to go to the Pizza Bowl (understandably so), wouldn't it be smart of them to drop the final game and let ASU win? This would allow ASU to go to NO, and Troy to go to Birmingham.

I know it's doubtful, since no coach in their right mind would pass up an outright conference championship (and an 8-4 season). But an interesting conspiracy theory nonetheless!

Yep. NCAA reviewing the contract. Should know something by this evening.

Conference call at 4pm today with WW.

We may not have any "secondary" tie-ins if NCAA and BCS, or ESPN, find a loophole.

They will screw the "little man" if they can.

Why not go in and redo the contract if the wording is vague? We've had since the summer to do that.

What are you trying to say, BOP? "Ironclad" is a bit rusty?

How ironic if the Sun Belt's own contract ends up cutting out its own bowl eligable teams.

jmo: Figure out a way to let Troy opt out of NOB before Birmingham extends its offer to someone else.
