Heres what I want to know, if the Independence or papajohns.com bowl break contract, what would their consequences be for breaking those contracts?

I for one, would be willing to be part of a protest campaign and refuse to buy ANY product sold by all sponsors of the independance bowl and Pizza bowl if they broke their contracts. If we got everyone in the league to help with that kind of cause, we can hurt them where they can be hurt the most, advertisements.

Apparently there are others across the nation who realize how contingency contracts work, like the Papajohns bowl, the ACC, the Poinsettia bowl, and the WAC. Everybody but the SBC.

Bowl executive director Mark Meadows said N.C. State will be in the running if the bowl can take an at-large team. Texas Bowl manager Heather Houston said her bowl selection committee also will consider N.C. State.

Fans need to realize that you can't hang your hopes on superficial tie in language because when it comes to the SBC its teams are the teams of last resort. There is so much fine print in these contracts its unreal. If say Auburn and Miss. State had the years people expected them to have no way an SBC team gets in a bowl other than the N.O. Bowl. The way to get in a bowl is to win all your games or at least the ones you are expected to win.

The question remains why there was even a contract signed if it did not bring any advantage whatsoever to a Sunbelt school. Once again, we are (provided we win tonight) going to be screwed over when it comes to possible bowls. I think that if we were to finish 11-1 and Troy finished 12-0 but out of the BCS, we would still be sitting home.

No, we wouldn't be sitting home because 7-5 teams have to be taken before any 6-6 teams can fill bowl slots. If we had won one more game, we'd be guaranteed a bowl berth somewhere (assuming we win tonight).
