Thread: UL/Louisiana Branding

    Default Re: UL/Louisiana Branding

It's been a while since I've refreshed my stance on this, so I'm overdue. The initials of my university are UL. The name of the athletic teams from my university is Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns. There are no other acceptable alternative references to my university or my teams and I do not and will not apologize for correcting others when they do not make the correct references. I have done so on dozens of message boards around the country and in emails and phone calls to networks, media outlets, websites and other places where my university's teams are mentioned. I don't have a problem telling our story to university presidents, athletic directors, sports information directors, conference commissioners, conference media directors, alumni associations of other universities and coaches of other teams while explaining to them why they should reference us as "Louisiana." You would be surprised at how many are receptive to the message.

I am not going to change what I do and to whom I say it. My message isn't going to change and it will be effective. I don't care who's on board with me or who's against me. Those of you who want to work with me, you are welcome to do so. The victory will be sweet.

We've been UL since 1984. They handed me a diploma saying so. Just because the Tiger nation got its collective panties in a wad and decided it couldn't live with that name, I'm supposed to call my school something different?

I graduated from Louisiana in '84. Suck it, Tigers.

I don't care what they call themselves any more than I care that they've redefined "canary yellow" as "gold". It matters not to me, and I am not going to write or call ESPN if they say "Purple and Gold" when it's actually "Purple and Canary Yellow".
While were being proper its saphire blue and canary yellow

Let's be clear, while LSU was the driving force behind the opposition at the time, the main obstacle today seems to be our insecure brethren in the ULS. Despite his public comments in the paper during hyphengate, Nick Bruno leads the opposition today whining about our use of Louisiana and UL, our uniforms, etc.

Bruno is a tool in every sense of the word. We shall see how much of a back bone T-Joe an Farmer have when we play ULMost in 2014-2015. If our jerseys say Ragin Cajun on the front instead of Louisiana when we play them, then you know we have lost the battle.
    That will be very unfortunate.

We need to put MORE pressure on T-Joe and S-Farmer than Bruno&Co, end of Story!

These clowns are worrying about some athletic uniforms and some athletic event signage while their universities are rotting. We're kicking butt and they're rotting. They've preoccupied themselves worrying about what we call ourselves... we're flourishing... and they're not.

If ULM and others keep fanning our flames over the naming stuff, we're going to seriously launch our greatest ambitions as a university. The more they hassle our president, the more support we give to our university.

Thanks Bruno! Please keep harassing T-Joe! You might corner the non-confrontational, "I work to please everyone", ever-pleasant Dr. Joseph Savoie in a room with some other "ULS" people. But, you not only do not have any power over our fan base, you are causing us to target you and your university.

It is time for us to discover the skeletons in the ULM closet, the fragile components of their existence, the needs they have but require support to address, etc and work those into this discussion. People that live in glass houses should not throw stones. Don't kid yourself. ULM is one cracked window away from being condemned.

Yep they say they are "Purple and Gold" there is another lie, these cats(pund intended) are like White House Dude, "always lying!" If you say you are Purple and Gold just wear it, their dance team(the Ladies) wear purple and gold but that is it, everyone else is Canary Yellow and Purple!

T-Joe should be working to please everyone. He should be magnanimous. After all, when you're running the flagship of the entire UL system, that is how you should act.

Second, "LA" would be confused for "Los Angeles". We aren't struggling with "UL" on a hat. We are struggling with the spoken nickname. We aren't struggling with "Louisiana" or "Ragin Cajuns" or both on our uniforms. We struggle to get people to just use "UL" or "Louisiana Ragin Cajuns" when they write or speak in reference to us. You seriously think writers and announcers are cleared up on our identity issue with a shortened version of our legal name by going with "LU", "L", or "LA"?

Come on! Please quit dibbling in the letter box like third graders. It's cute if you're 8 years old. It is not the least bit cute if you're actually a grown up educated person.

We DO NOT need more symbology and lettering additions to confuse everyone! Stick with the plan, and cut this ____ out, please!
