You also have to see the other aspects of that situation. It was not public, but people knew who the donor was. Do you throw him under the bus by letting someone know that the money wasn't there? Do you lose that donor? How do you think this donor feels about getting scammed. Then he tells his buddies (because rich people have rich buddies) and they decide they aren't going to risk that type of thing and stop donating as well. It was a bad situation all around and telling you what was going down behind closed doors could have made it much worse.
It was an exact question with an exact answer in person, not just me but a small group of people, donors and ticket holders. I didn't need to know details, simple..we are still trying to secure the funding..that's all. Would have been better than a direct lie. But whatever, it's in the past...doesn't matter at this point. Done talking about it, it will only take away for the great things the coaches and players accomplished.

to me that is just part of it. if football, basektball, baseball, etc does well it should also reflect on the AD (as only part of it)
the last part, which i think he has not done a good job at all is putting a foot in the ground and saying we are LOUISIANA and our marketing/capital campaign direction. he needs to improve on that a great bit. i havent rated him either, and if i were i'd say between 6 and 7.

as for the tigue mis steps a couple years ago, i dont blame him to much for that. a donor came forward and said im writing this check for basell to get the tigue re done and the guy never did, it was money we had to have to move forward, and it never came through. it's not on him.
we have a beautiful new scoreboard that was donated directly to baseball, and no credit was given to farmer, which i agree with. if we agree that he gets no credit for the scoreboard going up, then how can we blame him when the guy renegged on his donation promise that was made to tony, and not farmer in the first place.
Just for the record, Coach Robichaux was told to go out and raise the funds for the new scoreboard he had their blessing...that's it. BTW, I give Scott Farmer credit because he made some very good hires, not counting Robichaux and Lotief.

thats what i am saying, farmer doesnt get credit for that, i agree. he shouldnt get blame for the $$ fallout from one donor.
he shouldnt have lied to a fan or ticket holder about it either, that i agree with.

Scott farmer had nothing to do with Brett Baer's kick, nothing to do with Tulane misting the kick, nothing to do with defense at the end if SBC basketball tournament, nothing to do with coming out the losers bracket of a regional. Just like he would have anything to do with it if we lost in all those situations. How he parlays all those successes into moving forward, securing funding and completing the master plan is how he should be judged. Replacing one of these coaches with another successful coach is how he should be judged. It's my ____in opinion , you don't have to agree with it.
Not a business???? Really? so that's why there is a SEC network and Big 12 network and others. That's why the SEC cut for Ole Miss is 21 mil. Come on man. College athletics is ALL business. To prove it follow the money and you will see who is consistently in the elite ranks of the NCAA.

To say that he is not in part responsible for our success is just lying to yourself. Totally responsible absolutely not but I can tell you one thing that I know personally...he is going after big donor and having some success.

Is he out there for the tow a days...no....but T-Joe isn't either and I think we can all agree that if T-Joe wasn't here we would more likely than not be in this position. is it the best...absolutely not....has he screwed up...probably so...but we are better off now than we were 4 years ago. You can't cherry pick who you give praise to. The Athletic Department is a team and success will not come without everyone pulling in the same direction and he is the leader of that team.

For the record, I don't hold him responsible one bit for what happened with the donor.

Right... Hud didn't kick the fg, Marlin didn't defend the drive, Robe didn't score 39 runs. Cherry picking is all the haters want to do. Farmer has room for improvement. He has not gotten us where we need to be, but we are going in the right direction.

Get the crisp out your ears and stop hearing what you want. College athletics is very much big business, someone needs to get our guys that memo. That's not the way we do it around here. People defend him bc he only makes a 150k...try that crap in the real world. Tell your boss and your customer base that you half arse your job bc you get don't get paid like others...see where that gets you. Get caught lying to your customer base...see where that gets you. Tell one of your best employees who is underpaid to take a hike...see where that gets you. If this was the private sector, he would have been fired along time ago.

If it was the private sector, things would be moving a lot quicker. Red tape is just as much a reason for the slow progress as anything.

The State of Louisiana is the biggest culprit and no one can deny that. Farmer is playing 5 card poker with a 3 card hand.

Y'all are cherry pickers as well just on the other side if the fence. If people were on here blaming farmer at all for on field failures...you would be telling them they are crazy. I don't think he should get any credit for in field performance...good or bad. Just as in the private sector, there are a ton of ceo's that get credit for something they don't do. The guys in the field make it happen. I'm willing to give credit to farmer on things he directly affects and won't blame him on things he doesn't. He controls the words that come out of his mouth, not Conrad's batting average.

You are right, bc we would have cleaned house and got people to do the job at hand or went bankrupt. There are 2 sides to everything.

Ok, here's a comparison, you are hired to make Corner Pantry the next wal-mart. You have no increased revenue, you aren't allowed to hire anyone new, and anything you want to do has to be approved by wal-mart investors. Often times they say "that will take away from wal-mart customers so I won't approve you doing that". How well would you run that business?
