Is there any doubt that Coach Mike should be NCAA Coach of the Year as well? We can't help it if the voters get that one wrong.

It's certainly not a clear cut answer

Mike had lower expectations with a young roster this year but has a traditionally top 10-15 program. He also did something never done with the program in being a top 8 seed. Made it back to the WCWS for the 6th time. Did a whole lot when many didnt expect us to even win the conference.

Tony had higher expectations coming off of last year with nearly the entire club coming back. We did something we've never done in being a top 8 seed as well, but also had the #1 team in all polls, something never done by any of our programs. Set every program/conf record for record, margin over #2 team in the conf and hosted for only the 2nd time

Marlin had a team expected to compete for a conference title. The team fell a little short during the regular season, but put it all together at the end to upset the 2 teams that finished ahead of us and make a run. Competed very well in NCAA Tournament. Going to have a 1st round pick for the first time in a while.

Jeffrey brought the program back to the NCAA tournament. Won the conference tournament and was ranked well all season. Had a very good run to close the season winning 10 straight matches. 20 win season

Hud won the conference (albeit co-champs by SBC rules) for the first time in a while. Another 9 win season and New Orleans Bowl win over an in-state school. Won some really great primetime games on national TV to further elevate the program

All of them have been great so can't go wrong, but 1st consensus number one team in the history of the school gets my vote.

Sorry I'm late to the game.

I like your list, but in reverse order.

I'm not sure just which one of our coaches should win this award. However, I think it is awesome that we have so many to choose from!

Softball has had sustained success over a longer period of time, so while the WCWS was unexpected this year, it certainly wasn't a shock when they made it (They hosted the Super Regional, so it is not like they were a Cinderella by any means).

Basketball though, that is a different story. What Marlin has done with that team has been nothing short of HUD-esque. I feel like Marlin is on the verge of bringing back Louisiana basketball to the prominence it once had in the community.
You do realize that softball reloaded with freshmen and sophomores. That our ace was a basket case for the past three seasons after her amazing freshman season. One year red shirt for her, and two to get back the warrior mentality. Our expected ace not having any kind of year.

To in any way diminish what Coach Lotief did because he does it every year is awful. USA had the best two pitchers in the league coming into the season, and we bested that team. They hosted a super regional because of their incredible rise to accept the challenge.
