LuLu, in my conversations with Scott Farmer today, construction will begin in September once approved. The best case scenario is to have the grand stand area completed by the first week of the season, not counting weather delays. The locker rooms and other improvements will not be completed until after the season.
Yes, I understand the political nature of decisions in the past. But there ain't no one involved in this project trying to pull any BS over your eyes. They just don't have a crystal ball to give you drop dead dates. The state will either approve or not approve the project, end of story. McNeese State had their Field House approved in the last meeting and Tech has some projects approved in a previous meeting. No one is anticipating any problems with getting approvals on these projects.
Sirs:
The construction starts in October 2009.
Sept, Oct, maybe November. One month to take it down. Three weeks to prepare the foundation. Three months to put it up. That's four and a half months+. Completed by the end of March.......Someone start a poll guessing the completion date. As soon as the schedule comes out, guess the first home game you will be able to sit in the grandstand.
I spoke to scott a few weeks back and he also showed me the plans. He explained that the upper 'meeting' room will serve as a press box during events, thus requiring it to be at or near the start/finish line, or mid-field for soccer. Unlike softball, the start of construction shouldn't really matter much because all of it will take place outside of the stadium and it will not affect seating or prevent us from hosting events. In the end, the entrance to the place will be moved a little bit towards SC Rd.

How about spend a little money and cover the seating area at the Track/Soccer complex. I look like a crawfish after Sunday's game.
Also, why does it say this on ragincajuns.com?
"The soccer benches have a Plexiglas cover complete with a cooling system."
All I saw were two plain benches the teams were sitting on.
I saw at contracting sign today at the field...i guess its finally happening! would like to see the plans though.
