Track/soccer will have a dual use facility that will house seperate locker rooms for mens and womens track, something they do not have, a soccer locker room and a weight room for trach and soccer. Plus it will house the coaches offices. This is a long awaited addition to the track facility.
Softball will be a complete rebuild and will give us one of the nicest facilities in the region. The only thing that will remain the same from the current facility is the field itself. An entirely new covered grandstand, and some other additional seating and amenities.
If you go to the athletic department, meet with Scott Farmer and ask to see the design plans for Track and Softball and he will more than likely show them to you. You will be very impressed if you see the plans.
You are correct. It's going to be where the shot put area is now, along S College.
Please read post #10 again. Notice the keyword UNFORTUNATELY.
You must have 'speed read; my post. I said, "Unfortunately I win." I want the stadium to be completed ASAP, however, I think some people are shooting us some bull because they think we're without brains and will believe anything. That gets my goat! I don't have a lot of brains, but I have seen how bureaucratic things work. Slow, man, slow!
I believe the renovations should have started right after the camps were completed in mid June, then maybe February 5, 2010 it would be a reality.
LuLu, in my conversations with Scott Farmer today, construction will begin in September once approved. The best case scenario is to have the grand stand area completed by the first week of the season, not counting weather delays. The locker rooms and other improvements will not be completed until after the season.
Yes, I understand the political nature of decisions in the past. But there ain't no one involved in this project trying to pull any BS over your eyes. They just don't have a crystal ball to give you drop dead dates. The state will either approve or not approve the project, end of story. McNeese State had their Field House approved in the last meeting and Tech has some projects approved in a previous meeting. No one is anticipating any problems with getting approvals on these projects.
