Off the schneid: Cajuns get first win of season over Oral Roberts

  Back before the UL men's basketball team opened the season, Tyren Johnson decided to hold off cutting his hair until he had a breakout performance.

It's time to get out the clippers.

After beginning the season with three frustrating losses, the Cajuns blew another second-half lead on Tuesday night but rallied to force overtime and knock off Oral Roberts, 79-75, at the Cajundome.

Johnson led all scorers with a career-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting in a game that saw 18 lead changes. The junior also added six rebounds and three blocked shots as injury-bitten UL (1-3) beat an Oral Roberts team that has nine newcomers but has made three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances.

I think the reports of doom and gloom on this years basketball team were pretty accurate. The cajun team I saw play last night will not win many games. I pray that Daigle drinks lots of milk and Gradnigos infection subsides and Roberson and Adeife find some magic chemistry with the rest of the team and McCoy finds his game (he did better last night) and Wallace gets back into game form....other than that....snoozeville.

Hope you are right. BTW, what was ORU record. On the herky-jerky RC.com they looked like a pretty weak team.

That is pretty much what I saw last nite also. Unless there is a dramatic inprovement and the 4 guys on the bench make a huge difference, I do not see us winning more than 8-10 games. Offensively, unless we discover some type, any inside game...we will struggle regardless just taking outside shots with not much ball movement. But, I will be there regardless hoping I am proven wrong. ORU was not very good, I believe ther record was 1-2.

ORU now has the same record as the cajuns...1-3. They were a very young team losing I think four starting seniors.

Losing Ken Tutt was big for them. That kid can play.
