    Gonna be VERY hard to give this one away. Looks like we will get our first W of this season. A hard fought game by both teams, hopefully we will only get better from here.

    Cajuns win one. Great job on defense down the stretch, and some clutch shooting to go along with it.

    McCoy = 9 pts, 4 assists and 0 TO in 26 minutes

    Lago = ? pts, 5 assists and 4 TO.

    Whether some of you want to believe it but this team is better with McCoy at the point and Daigle at the 2 when he gets back and Lago at the back of the bus!

    The cajun offense (if you can call it that) looks much better with McCoy. regardless of who is on the floor, I'm really disturbed by our lack of movement and preperation on offense. Dribble ball to mid court, pass to forward, jack up a 3. That's what we run 80% of the time. We did play pretty good D in the stretch.

    And if we could get Barr the ball down low, he showed he's got a really good little hook shot. If we can get him the ball to him he looks like he can either get the two or get fouled and he can shoot free throws. Not sure why we don't get him the ball more to draw a double down low and maybe free up Bureau for a 3. Johnson played very well tonight also. Overall better effort, but still a lot of work needs to be done. We don't look like a good basketball team.

    I also heard tonight that Gandigo will be out another month. Then you have to give him time to get his fitness up because he hasn't been on the court in a month and a half.

    The point guard was vastly improved. I find the half court play has minimal movement. I am not sure what we are doing with 4 people hanging out near the three point line. Please can someone be designated to rebound on the offensive end!!

    stat of the night: Ryan McCoy 0 Turnovers.

    Question? Why is Jeremy Barr touching the ball 5 times a game? Every time we go down in the paint to him, something positive happens. He's not an awful free throw shooter (he could improve a bit, but he's not terrible). He makes the jump hook, he has a drop step, he shows power moves. It's basic basketball ROBERT LEE. Give your C the dam ball!!! My god.. They went to him twice in a row down the stretch, AND LO and BEHOLD, we scored both times down.. It sucks in the defense, and hell, if you're going to have a jump shooting team, you mine as well get the opposing defense looking in the paint to space the court!

    Major Coaching Error (one of many) of the night: This could have cost us the game. With under a minute to go, following a missed jumper by Jarvis (#10, another guard that absolutely lit us up.. he does deserve alot of credit tho.. that guy created his own shot all night), La'Ryan Gary is isolated on a guard in the post, about 15 ft from the hoop. Lee calls TIMEOUT. THEN, proceeds to run an out of bounds play, in which Bureau curls off of a screen, to shoot a 28 foot jump shot, which rims out, and costs us a possession. This guy is unbelievable... You don't play for the win with a struggling team at home. You go with whats been working, play for the tie, and see what happens for the final 39 seconds.. THIS WAS NOT A ROAD GAME!

    Good to get a win. Very impressed with the Defense down the stretch. We're still throwing up prayers out there, and fortunately, a few went in at opportune moments for the first time this season. Folks, Oral Roberts is not a good team this year. If we don't fix this offense, we might win 10 games.

    Oral Roberts was predicted to win their conference this year. That would be four years in a row. So i dont think this team is as horrible as ya'll are making them out to be. And to predict a 10 win season is foolish. UL best three scorers (Gradnigo, Daigle, Roberson) have not even stepped on the floor this year. So obama please chill with the doomsday prediction and i actually liked the in bounds play to Bureau. He was wide open and he is our best player (scorer) right now. Pretty well drawn out play for a coach who can't develop plays.

    First of all, any player will be open 30 ft. from the basket. The odds play into the defenses' hands. You don't throw away a high percentage play, with one of your strongest post players handling the ball 13-15 ft. away from the bucket, to draw up a long rage, low percentage shot. Thats bad coaching, and bad basketball. If the ball would have went in, I would still harp on it.

    Secondly, whoever or whatever site that picked them to win their conference is high, because they lost 4 senior starters, and have 9 new players. They are young, inexperienced, and miles away from "not that bad". (not to mention 1-3).

    Finally.. and my favorite.. Gradnigo, Daigle, and Roberson. How can you possibly say that Roberson is "one of our best three scorers"? He has never scored a basket with a Louisiana jersey on. He's going to go threw an adjustment period. Not to mention, if he's inserted into this offense, and is expected to play one-on-one street ball, he won't make much of a difference anyway. Daigle is coming off of a HAND injury. SHOOTING HAND INJURY. We have no idea how effective he will or won't be. And again, another JUMP SHOOTER. Gradnigo will be coming off of over a 2 month layoff! That guy won't be 100% until the end of Feb. You can't keep counting on these players to come in and save the day. And I can't stress enough that we have the pieces on the court (especially with the game to game improvement of McCoy) now! A better coach and SOME leadership, and we would be 3-1.

    First of all,,, its not bad coaching to put the ball in the hands of best player. He was open to due to a screen and i dont believe it was 30 feet away.. The 30 foot shot was the one he nailed with 30 seconds lefted and helped get us into overtime. And the play you mention as a high % play was not there until a time was called and the defender walked away.

    Secondly, my favorite reply.... Gradnigo is had a staph infection.. That does not mean he cant practice shooting, running, etc. He just cant interact with player due to the risk of spreading an infection. Look at many a players that had staph infections (winslow) it did not take months for them to get back in conditon. On the daigle issue, I agree with you. Now Roberson, he has never played a game with UL yet. But he has been practicing, scrimmaging w our current roster. and if you talk to anyone who has seen this, they will tell you that when Roberson steps on the floor he will be one of our best, if not the best player.

    But while I see your logic, its still too early to be throwing the towel in.
