I honestly don't think we have a rivalry in football. We have a pretty good basketball rivalry that got started a few years ago against WKU. I guess I can see that carrying over into FB. If UNO would have a footall team, they would win my most hated team trophy hands down. I guess you can say the same goes for USA. We have good rivalries with them in both baseball and basketball.
To answer you second question....I think everyone would agree that no school likes WKU!!!!!
It would be nice to reignite that old UL v. LaTech rivalry......I think we would have to be in the same conference for that to happen! LaTech is my most hated school in the nation!!!
Can't hate Troy....one of my boys played baseball over there. We had a lot of s@*t talking but all in fun. And hell, I have to thank you guys for being a major contributor in putting this conference on the map.
our best football rivalry are the MUTS, but with the way FAU has played us the past couple years they are quickly becoming a much hated rival. MTSU also felt the sting of the Owls' style of play this season, so that has given our two fan bases something to agree upon.
I HATE 'EM ALL!!!!!
I'm still pis%$d off at UALR for not rescheduling the game to be played in Lafayette after hurricane Katrina. Due to venue problems and displaced evacuees they couldn't come to Laf on any of the dates the building was available. BULL@#$%!!!!!! We had to go Little Rock 2 years in a row because of that. The SBC should have jumped in and told UALR when they had to come to Laf. Thats why the coach of UALR is now named Steve "panty" Shields.
As far as a rival, we don't really have ONE. Like everyone says, basketball is WKU & UNO. Baseball is South AL & UNO. Come to think of it, every conference opponent is a big event. Like I said in my firsty sentence...I HATE 'EM ALL!!!! BTW, why does it seem like we are always going to Bowling Green to play WKU in basketball, it seems like they never come to Lafayette!!!
One of the things I hate about the SBC is that half the schools don't play football. If you have a rivalry with a school, it should be for all sports. The SBC, for that matter, should be an all sports conference. I wish we would get rid of the non-football playing schools, especially now that WKU is going 1A next year.
Louisville is known as U of L. Locally, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is simply known as UL. Just like the University of Texas at Austin goes simply by UT, not to be confused with University of Tennessee. Just like there are many UM's in the nation, but locally people know who you are talking about. I went to graduate school at UM (University of Mississippi at Oxford), locally people knew i wasn't talking about Michigan at Ann Arbor. Sorry if UL confuses you , but everyone in southwestern louisiana, fans, students, and just people off the street know what UL refers to.
