Louisiana-Lafayette?

When your uniforms, logo, venue, say one thing and they call you another then it gets confusing to people out of state.

Our Logo says Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, uniforms say Louisiana, venue say Louisiana, then we get called Louisiana-Lafayette, it is confusing to people out of state. So all our sucess doesn't mean anything if people don't who we are because we are not consistent. The only name people from out of state recognize is Ragin Cajuns. I deal with the name thing alot in Idaho, especially since we are playing Boise State in football. I get asked if they are playing Louisiana or Louisiana-Lafayette.

I'm just saying we need to be consistent, whatever we call ourselves

We see the variations and translate correctly. An outsider sees the variations and thinks of it as different schools from who knows where.

Turbine, the last SID didn't lose his job because of the use of Louisiana. And once he was told not to use UL again, he complied. I know some of you guys want to make some kind of martyr out of the guy, but he created more problems for this university in the long run. The current SID is using Louisiana in all stories, but he is not mocking ESPN or others in making the request.

Who told our SID to stop using "UL" and "Louisiana"?

Ben McDonald is calling this series. Up till now it's been what we prefer from him.

We will know if it's an espn mandate after listening to Ben call the game, because we know he normally calls us what we prefer.

Lets say you get a transfer and move to a different part of the country. You'll be a part of a projects team that has at least 100 members. Its the smallerst department in the building with the other departments comprised of 2000 other employees. First day at work, boss walks you around to introduce you and he does the same thing moments later in a meeting of the 100 members. At the same time a welcome memo is sent to the other 2000 employees in the building. One problem. Your boss introduces you as ____...you prefer Richard and have always prefered Richard, but your introduced by a name you don't like and the welcoming memo also uses ____ to introduce you.....This is a huge opportunity for you, a chance to be a difference maker....yet, everyone in the building calls you ____...everyone in the corporate offices call you ____, everyone calls you ____, yet you prefer Richard.
How would you handle this?

This forum cracks me up. I can't get over the people that concern themselves with threads or posts, as if they'll "distract" the team. We used to only get these preachings about how no one at Martin Hall concerns themselves with the rants on RP. Now we get these worry warts that think we all have to stay focused on the ball field to succeed.

No... we have 50 distinct missions right now at UL. And every leg in the table raises the table. If your personal mental bandwidth can't tolerate multiple topics, don't participate in those you can't work through.

If you can't multitask, don't ask others that can to stop. You adjust.

Ben is a great guy and was a great player as Big Ben pitching for LSU and then in the Bigs. He will continue to call us Louisiana and UL or Ragin Cajuns as he is NOT a petty person, Geaux Big Ben!

That guy is awesome....always was, is and will be. His coverage has been A++++++++ as he brings the best commentary to ESPN as ANY member of their baseball crews. He has a great future with the networks.

His name and Stokely's are the only LSU names that can be mentioned in my home. I used to beg for tickets to watch him at refineryville and would make it a point to stay over or go early for business in Baltimore and then later, Milwaukee, hoping to catch him on the mound when he was in the pros. Was a Olympian as well, and Represented his alma mater and Louisiana wherever he went, and always better than anyone I can name. Never met him, my loss.

His honey is from Mamou, so he knows our area and program well and appreciates the food stuffs in the Cajuns parking lot.
