UL - Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns softball team announced the signing of five players on National Signing Day and another two signees on Nov. 18. Brianna Cherry (Petal, Miss.), Sarah Draheim (Flower Mound, Texas), Jennifer Martin (Lafayette, La.), Nerissa Myers (Petal, Miss.), Britni Soria (Fort Worth, Texas), Jensen Tydelski (Pearland, Texas) and Meagan Waterman (Ashburn, Va.) all signed National Letters of Intent to play softball for Louisiana.
The seven players consist of three utility players, two infielders, an outfielder and a catcher.
The Ragin’ Cajuns rounded out the signing class with a pair of players from Petal High School in Petal, Miss. The duo of Cherry and Myers complete the 2010 signing class for the Cajuns, adding depth and talent.
Cherry lettered in softball, basketball and volleyball. She played first base, second base, third base, right field, centerfield, left field and pitcher on the softball team and shooting guard, forward and center for the basketball team. Cherry helped PHS to State Runner-Up, South State Runner-Up and District Champions in fastpitch softball. She also was Co-District Champion in basketball and District Champions in volleyball. Cherry was 2006 Fastpitch South State Runner-Up, 2005 Fastpitch State Runner-Up and Slowpitch State Champions in softball in 2006. She was an All-American in basketball for three years. Cherry was named All-District for four years in fastpitch softball and All-District for three years in slowpitch softball. She was also tabbed All-Tournament Team and All-District for basketball. Cherry boasted most RBI, most doubles and most improved in softball, while being named top rebounder and best defensive player in basketball.
Like Cherry, Myers played fastpitch and slowpitch softball, along with basketball at Petal High School. She was a State Runner-Up, South State Runner-Up and District Champions in fastpitch softball. Myers was Co-District Champion in basketball. She helped Petal High School to runner-up finishes at the 2006 Fastpitch South State and 2005 Fastpitch State tournaments. Myers was Slowpitch State Champions in softball in 2006 leading PHS to a 31-1 record. She was named Slowpitch Player of the Year as a junior. Myers was tabbed All-State Fastpitch in 2008 and All-District in 2006 and 2007, while being named All-District and All-State Slowpitch as a sophomore and a junior. She was All-District in basketball as a junior and the PHS Scholar Athlete in 2007 and 2008 and Scholar Athlete Fastpitch in 2006 and 2008. Myers hit for the cycle in the Slowpitch State Championship.
