I thought about adding that excuse to my list!!!
Oh how I long for the days of the "we are young excuse"
Speaking of excuses, UL's beat writer did a pretty good job of offereing them up. Did you know we only had 9 scholarship players playing?
Now call me a cynic, but most teams only play 8 or 9 players a game. I loved this quote from Johnson..."We didn't really have many subs". Really, Lamar played 4 subs and we played 4 subs. The minutes the subs played was 53 (0 points) for UL and 41 (8 points) for Lamar. A more accurate quote would have been their starters played better than our starters and their bench played way better than our bench. For comedy's sake someone should keep track of the excuses offered up by this program over the course of the season.
This reminded me of the Marty Fletcher days. At least then, we had people that could shoot. If Travis Bureau was not out there, we would have lost by 30.
My wife actually turned to me at one point and said, "The cajuns aren't too good, are they?"
And she knows nothing about basketball.
Two questions.
Do we practice?
And is Coach Lee actually there during practice?
I've seen better offenses run at Girard Park. Oh crap, I think we just fired up another 3. And missed. No one there to rebound.
When we struggle as we did the last two games to run an offensive play for several minutes during crunch time it is hard for me to see how we can keep Coach Lee. I think the walls are falling down around him.
Also, I would like to note that the officiating was HORRIBLE last night!
I am starting to feel that same way...I think Lee is a great recruiter and has done a lot but he has also done very little on the court to prove he can win at this level.
And you are correct the officiating was very bad but against LAMAR we shouldn't be in a position that the refs can change the game like they did.
While I might give them a bit of a pass for being short-handed right now, losing leads late in the game is not a good sign! Up several points vs Tech, then regain the lead against Lamar only to go brain dead at the end and lose by 10 or so. This stinks of poor coaching. Not that I'm "qualified" to say; but I will anyway!
