Thread: UL vs Lamar

Yeah it was pretty terrible tonight. Not so bad that we weren't in either of the games we lost but we just can't seem to get it together. We can't run an offense, we can't rebound, and we can't guard the 3 apparently. I think part of this is coaching. How has Lago been in this system for what 2 years and he still can't run the offense. If we would have come down the court and one pass and shoot the three one more time I would have left. I know we've got some devistating injuries but that's why you have to have every player on the team prepared to play. Barr showed flashes of good play which is a plus. But not much to like tonight.

Also, I noticed that there is no energy whatsoever with this team. I can't recall being more uninterested in a Cajun game before. Hopefully Gandigo can come back and spark. Yuck

We have way to much talent to play this damn bad. I don't think the injuries matter in this case because they are playing terrible. No way to possibly defend how they are playing.

On a good note # 44 did respond to my "You Suck" comment...he had such a good comeback "Your Momma" This was after he flicked me off lol

Cajuns have one of the worst coaches in D1. Has to go. Until then expect more losing seasons and four year plans for turn around.

We need to schedule "Lighthouse of the can't rebound, shoot, or dribble" then maybe we'll have a chance. Our point guard play is terrible. Can we recruit someone who can handle the ball and run an offense??? I will take any suggestions! _

McCoy was running the point rather well and distributing the ball while scoring also. He got injured and in Lee's doghouse and we didn't see him the rest of the half. Lago is brutal. This team has no leadership on the court which is what is hurting them.

Right now we have the injury excuse.
After that we will have the "it takes time to gel" excuse.
During conference play we will have the lack of Senior leadership excuse.

Did I miss any excuses? _
Call it an "excuse" or whatever but not having Daigle, Gradnigo, Wallace and Dison at 100% is a tough row to hoe. Then McCoy, who was apparantly having a decent outing, left in the second half with a twisted ankle . It's like blaming the Texans' loss at the Alamo because they couldn't shoot straight.

Lee will (should) be gone if this season tanks. So far it's not looking so good.

But until then, Geaux Lee! Stop Losing Please!

I thought about adding that excuse to my list!!!
Oh how I long for the days of the "we are young excuse"

Speaking of excuses, UL's beat writer did a pretty good job of offereing them up. Did you know we only had 9 scholarship players playing?
Now call me a cynic, but most teams only play 8 or 9 players a game. I loved this quote from Johnson..."We didn't really have many subs". Really, Lamar played 4 subs and we played 4 subs. The minutes the subs played was 53 (0 points) for UL and 41 (8 points) for Lamar. A more accurate quote would have been their starters played better than our starters and their bench played way better than our bench. For comedy's sake someone should keep track of the excuses offered up by this program over the course of the season.

DING DING DING we have a winner! Horrible display last night. Once again there is way to much talent to be playing like this.

This reminded me of the Marty Fletcher days. At least then, we had people that could shoot. If Travis Bureau was not out there, we would have lost by 30.

My wife actually turned to me at one point and said, "The cajuns aren't too good, are they?"

And she knows nothing about basketball.

    Two questions.

    Do we practice?

And is Coach Lee actually there during practice?

I've seen better offenses run at Girard Park. Oh crap, I think we just fired up another 3. And missed. No one there to rebound.

When we struggle as we did the last two games to run an offensive play for several minutes during crunch time it is hard for me to see how we can keep Coach Lee. I think the walls are falling down around him.

Also, I would like to note that the officiating was HORRIBLE last night!

I am starting to feel that same way...I think Lee is a great recruiter and has done a lot but he has also done very little on the court to prove he can win at this level.

And you are correct the officiating was very bad but against LAMAR we shouldn't be in a position that the refs can change the game like they did.
