Thread: UL baseball attendance rivals that of bigger schools

  1. Default UL baseball attendance rivals that of bigger schools

The University of Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team is attracting the same size crowds as bigger schools with bigger stadiums.

UL ranked No. 10 in both average game attendance and total season attendance out of the 52 teams in the NCAA Division I that had an average attendance of at least 1,200 people, according to a list compiled by Wichita State Athletic Media Relations.

UL enrollment of well over 16,000 is just about the same as MS State, and more than TSUN (known to some as Ol' Miss). Significally larger then Vanderbilt. MSU people would love to be located in a town of over 100,000, we'd have to build a major league size facility to find places for everyone. The biggest difference is in marketing, money, and the prestige of being in the SEC. But you guys have got the potential to rival SEC schools in attendance, including UL-Red Stick (known to some as LSU). Basically, if you build it, and give people something special, they will come. MSU has to draw from all over MS to fill Davis Wade, still managed to come in #2 behind UL-Red Stick, and MSU has arguably the best college baseball venue in the country, including Alex Box. The "something special" is the famous Left Field Lounge, and there is no valid reason that you guys can't do something similar, without appearing to copy. Of course, you'd have to get rid of all those ugly, AA ball style 8' tall signs along the outfield fence! For this year, at least, ya'll have outshown UL-Red Stick. Build on that!

When we renovate and expand our stadium in the near future UL will change out the outfield fence. An some 3 game series alternating sites every year would be awesome, like we are doing with Alabama, bring it!

That would be awesome, and help both our RPI's.

Yes it would indeed help one anothers RPI's, start what would be a great series, and maybe spur some competition between some of our other sports!
