Auburn loses a close one today to Georgia 17-13. The loss gives Auburn a 5-6 record. They will need to beat Alabama next week to get bowl eligible and take a potential bowl away from a SBC team.

I almost hate to pull against Auburn, but after getting to see that game LIVE yesterday (YES I was there!), I've gained a new respect for that school and their fans. Still, I want at least 2 Sun Belt teams to get bowl bids this season, and I pray that the CAJUNS will still be one of them!!!
error
The SEC has 9 bowl tie-ins and right now only has 8 teams eligible. This is one more than last week because Vandy beat Kentucky. This will take away a potential bowl berth for a SBC team. There are 2 teams that can still get bowl eligible and they are Auburn (who must beat Alabama) and Arkansas (who must beat Miss St. and LSU). Neither team should get bowl eligible so there should be one spot open for a SBC team. I am optimistic that if the Cajuns can get that 6th win they have a good shot at a bowl game. I know someone on this board says that an at-large team must have a 7-5 record but the SBC is considered a tie-in once the usual conference can't field a team with 6 wins.
CUSA has 6 bowl tie-ins and currently they have 4 teams bowl eligible. They have 4 teams that can still get bowl eligible.
1. Memphis - 5-5 must beat either UCF or Tulane
2. Marshall - 4-6 must beat Rice and Tulsa
3. So Miss - 5-6 must beat SMU
4. UTEP - 5-5 must beat either Houston or ECU.
I see Memphis and So Miss most likely getting bowl eligible and maybe UTEP also. There most likely will not be a CUSA bowl tie-in available.
The Big XII has 7 guaranteed bowl tie-ins plus 2 bowls that is split between Big XII, Big East, and Notre Dame. Right now the Big XII has 7 bowl eligible teams with only Colorado left that has a chance to make an 8th team. Colorado is 5-6 and plays at Nebraska and must win to become bowl eligible. This will leave at least 1 bowl and maybe 2 open. Remember the Big East or Notre Dame can fill these spots.
The Big East has 5 guaranteed bowl-tie ins plus 2 that again is spit between the Big XII, Big East, and Notre Dame. The Big East currently has 5 teams bowl eligible and 2 teams that can still get eligible in Rutgers and Louisville. Rutgers is must beat either Army or Louisville. Louisville is 5-5 and must beat either West Virginia or Rutgers. I will assume Rutgers will beat Army and become eligible. Also it must be noted that at least one of the two teams between Rutgers and Louisville will be eligible because they play each other. So it is safe to say the Big East tie-ins will at least be 6/7 filled if not all 7.
Notre Dame is already bowl eligible at 6-4 so they will get one of the bowls form the Big XII and Big East.
Right now between the SEC, CUSA, Big XII, Big East, and Notre Dame there are 4 bowls still open that a SBC team can get not counting the New Orleans bowl.
Now to the nitty gritty, this is what the SBC is wanting to see.
1. Auburn loses to Alabama
2. Arkansas loses to either Miss St. or LSU (yes UL fans we must pull for LSU)
3. Memphis loses both to UCF and Tulane
4. Marshall loses to either Rice or Tulsa
5. So. Miss loses to SMU
6. UTEP loses to both Houston and ECU
7. Colorado loses to Nebraska
8. Rutgers loses both to Army and Louisville
9. Louisville loses both to West Virginia and Rutgers.
My prediction will be the SBC will get 1 extra bowl and a long shot 2. The one extra bowl is not guaranteed but pretty likely. Of the 4 bowls available I see CUSA filling both of theirs and the Big East is guaranteed to get one more since Rutgers and Louisville play each other. That leaves 1 open bowl.
The kicker teams that can really hurt the SBC are Auburn, Arkansas, and Colorado.
Someting else just came to me. I forgot about the BCS championship games and the other BCS games. Both the SEC and Big XII could get 2 teams each into the BCS by playing each other in the championship games. This can potentially open 2 other bowl spots for the SBC.
So not only do we need to pull for the above teams I mentioned in the post before to lose we also need to pull for a SEC vs. Big XII championship.
