Thread: Cajuns are on Fire

  1. UL Baseball Cajuns are on Fire

Louisiana now has two key SBC series left.

LOUISIANA La. — UL’s baseball team just took its most impressive series win of the 2003 season, and it didn’t help them a lick in the Sun Belt Conference race.

    But nobody’s complaining.

The Ragin’ Cajuns took advantage of their off weekend from league play to travel to Nebraska and take two of three games from the fourth-ranked Cornhuskers, and sneak ever closer to the magic .500 mark.

That’s saying a ton for a team that started the season 5-17 and won only six times in their first 25 outings. Now, they’ve won eight of nine and 11 of 14, but none were more impressive than the 4-2 Friday and 8-2 Sunday wins over Nebraska that wrapped up a seven-game (6-1) road swing.

“Give all the credit to the guys,” said Cajun head coach Tony Robichaux. “It’s not us as coaches, it’s all them. We didn’t have a good attitude early, but now we have a good attitude and that’s what causes winning.”

  2. Default Dan's EXTRA BASES:

Wednesday’s game with Nicholls will be the final “ticket redemption” night of the season. Any fan with unused tickets from earlier this season, such as season tickets for missed games, can exchange any quantity of them for general admission tickets for Wednesday’s game

Friday’s opening game at ASU has been moved from its original start time of 6:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. due to graduation exercises at the Jonesboro campus

Tickets for the 26th league tournament, set May 21-24 at Moore Field, are on sale at the Cajundome box office

Monday was the team’s NCAA-mandated day off, so Robichaux took that opportunity to go to Alexandria to watch son Justin’s Notre Dame High squad face Menard in the regional round of the Class 3A playoffs.
