Louisiana now has two key SBC series left. AdvertiserLOUISIANA La. — UL’s baseball team just took its most impressive series win of the 2003 season, and it didn’t help them a lick in the Sun Belt Conference race.
But nobody’s complaining.
The Ragin’ Cajuns took advantage of their off weekend from league play to travel to Nebraska and take two of three games from the fourth-ranked Cornhuskers, and sneak ever closer to the magic .500 mark.
That’s saying a ton for a team that started the season 5-17 and won only six times in their first 25 outings. Now, they’ve won eight of nine and 11 of 14, but none were more impressive than the 4-2 Friday and 8-2 Sunday wins over Nebraska that wrapped up a seven-game (6-1) road swing.
“Give all the credit to the guys,” said Cajun head coach Tony Robichaux. “It’s not us as coaches, it’s all them. We didn’t have a good attitude early, but now we have a good attitude and that’s what causes winning.”
