UL Josie West a Lady Cajun

With only one senior on this season's roster, the UL women's team expects to add only one recruit during the early signing period in East Ascension High's Josie West.

West, a 6-2 power forward/center, earned first team all-district honors as a freshman but missed her entire sophomore season and most of her junior year with knee injuries. She had knee surgeries in February 2006 and April 2007.

"I got hurt at the beginning of my sophomore year, needed some cartilage repair," said West, who plans to sign a national letter of intent today. "I got my knee scoped my junior year."

In district play last season, West averaged 10 points and nine rebounds per game. She was a second team all-district selection.

West played AAU ball this past summer for the Red Stick Rockets out of Baton Rouge.
