We need a uniform thread for basketball, so I'll start it. Why do our basketball uniforms have Louisiana Lafayette on them? Football, baseball, and softball use only Louisiana. Women's basketball used to use Louisiana Lafayette, but now uses Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns. Better, but it doesn't look good on the uniform, too much lettering and too close together.
Just another inconsistency in our athletic department. It sure is frustrating. I know, I know ... just win and it doesn't matter. But, why can't we win with the right name and establish the Louisiana identity that we want? Why are we so inconsistent in this?
I don't care how fancy they are at putting the ball in the basket. I am more concerned that the ball goes in. I am disappointed in the rebouding last night. Our reaction time was slow. I am also concerned about injuries. We may not have either Daigle or Gradnigo for the season opener on Saturday.
I agree with you Jay about McCoy. He did struggle with his shooting. However the shots he took were good ones, he handled the ball well, and had four assists. In summary he made good decisions. He will need to hit a couple of shots to be effective. Once he makes a couple of jumpers his confidence will return and he will be fine. One thing I do believe we can anticipate is Jeremy Barr will often have foul trouble. He is so large people bounce off of him. He is one of those guys the refs will always pick on.
La'Ryan Gary has impressed me more than anyone in the 2 preseason games. I don't think I am the only one being impressed either. He reminds me so much of Brian Hamilton it is almost scary. Another thing that I noticed in the limited time he played last night was that Willie Lago's offense game has improved a lot.
I think that Gary and Daigle looked great in the first two exhibition games....Gary especially.
McCoy looked bad in the first exhibition game (nervous), but showed some improvement last night. Bloom has a good shot, but his defense is lackluster. Barr wants to play well, but I think he is too slow in his reaction times. Batiste is a very nice surprise (is he a walk-on?) as he always seems have his motor running. Bureau still has a great shot, but I think this year he will play better defense (as evident with the 5 block game last night). Also got to see a little mop up duties with Minor, who impressed me so far.
