    Your wrong..

30.9.2.1 Exception—12 Game Season. [FBS] An institution with a record of six wins and six losses may be selected for participation in a bowl game under the following circumstances: (Adopted: 4/27/06 effective 8/1/06)

    (a) The institution or its conference has a primary contractual affiliation, which existed prior to the first contest of the applicable season, with the sponsoring bowl organization. In the case of a conference contractual affiliation, all conference teams with winning records must be placed in one of the contracted bowl games before any institution with a record of six wins and six losses may be placed in a contracted bowl game. There shall be no contingency agreements with other sponsoring bowl organizations intended to enable an institution with a record of six wins and six losses to become eligible for those contests; or

    (b) All contractual affiliations per Bylaw 30.9.2.1-(a) have been fulfilled and all institutions with winning records have received bowl invitations (either through a contractual affiliation or as an at-large selection)..

We have a contingency agreement and as stated above you have a 6-6 record that contingency agreement is thrown out the window.

I'd love to be wrong on this one but unless I am interpreting this wrong I don't think they can take the 6-6 team unless there are no other 7-5 teams.

I think the biggest issue here is whether or not the deal the SBC has with those bowls is considered a "primary contractual affiliation" or something else.

What I view as Primary is for ex. The SEC and BIG 12 have with the Independence Bowl...we would be the contingency in this case. Like I said I hope I am interpreting this wrong.

I wonder if any bowls have a tertiary agreement?

So, in other words, we need another dadgum primary bowl tie-in, esp. with WKU coming in. I bet the SBC loses a lot of recruits to Coosa because they laugh at our one primary bowl tie-in. I guess our SBC coaches can "spin" the 3 secondary tie-ins to potential recruits, however.

Look at it this way if this deal was in place last year Troy wouldn't have been snubbed from going bowling.

But you are correct we need more mandatory tie-in games.

On Oct. 23, I talked with the media director from the Independence Bowl. He told me an at-large Sun Belt team would have to at least seven wins to play in that bowl.

With our injury situation, getting 7 wins would be quite an accomplishment.

I may be in the minority here, but I would almost prefer not to be in a bowl game at 6-6. IF we go in at 6-6, then that would mean we go 1-3 in our last four games, and obviously not be playing well. The likelihood that we would lose in a bowl game would be pretty high in that scenario. If we lost under those circumstances, we would end the season with a 6-7 (losing) record, going 1-4 over our last five. Not exactly something to hang our hat on going into next year.

Of course, I hope my argument is moot, and we end up 8-4 going into a bowl.

    GEAUX CAJUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You would definitely go bowling... without a doubt. You have a pretty substantial rest period before the bowl game and much of our current woes are health related. We would be well served with some rest and player assessment at that juncture. I think we would end up being the best 6-6 bowl team that anyone ever faced. Trust me... we would take the bowl... and love it. But...

... we are not gearing for 6-6 at this moment... our mechanics are currently tuning up our engines and making adjustments to beat FAU to bring us to 6-4. Let's take these checkered flags one at a time and see where the bowl picture lines up then.
