Thread: The Story of the MudBugs Football Team in Lafayette Louisiana

  1. Default Re: Indoor Football Coming to Lafayette

Notice how the font and logo are very similar to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs hockey team... Wish they could have been a bit more original with the football team name...

Former Cajuns who might be on the team WR Kemmie Lewis, DT Michael Moore, and DT Kendrick Haynes. As for the prices if true $18.50 is very high $10.00-$12.00 would be better.

Heres the link to the ticket prices...

I would definitely be down for 10-12$, 18 is a bit steep, but I'm glad that Kemmie Lewis would be playing because I really liked how he played as a cajun.

Acctually, my bad,its acctually 20$ a ticket plus all the little fees. 20$ for one game is gonna be a hard sell.

This can't possibly succeed. In what way can these owners think that this is a good way to invest their dollars.

Not at $20 per ticket. $10 for kids 5 and under. Kids 5 and under should be free! I will never attend a game at that price.

What a Downer Re: Indoor Football Coming to Lafayette

$18.50 + $1.50 fee....the mud bugs will fold after a couple of season. When the owner of the Icegators started to raise the prices attendance started to go down from 11,800 to maybe 2,500. They had five dollar seats for their games. $20 for a family of four. They got greedy and things start to fall apart...$20, I think not.....

Their business plan is very poorly thought through. At 20$, there is not a chance that they will even think about selling out blackham. If you sell the tickets at 10$, I'd go a lot and the chances are that with a little success, you'd be selling out.

That is more than the IceGators. I might head to one game to go into Blackham because I've never been in there. It is so small I can't imagine arena football being played in there. I wonder what genius got the idea for the name and logo? http://www.mudbugshockey.com/

After seeing what has happened in other cities (check out Beaumont's team) with these very very minor league teams, I'll be surprised if they finish season one. At this level, this is a really pathetic sport.

Frenchie, it won't take two seasons, IMO. Minor league baseball tried it, and failed. The Ice Gators were successful for a while until the the fans got tired of going to see a fight, and a hockey game broke out.

For certain, they are not going to get my dollars. I hate arena football. Its for the pits, which is usually where the game takes place.

Wait, you mean it's 20 dollars a ticket for me to sit down on wooden dusty bleachers and get splinters up my butt? You mean it's 20 dollars a ticket and there are no fancy new scoreboards, sound systems, instant replays, light shows, or anything? They'll be bankrupt by midway through the first season. The league will have to step in and take over operations just to be able to pay what's still owed on the players salaries.

  12. UL Football Turfcats lose season opener in dirty battle with Mudbugs

Austin, TX - The Austin Turfcats opened their inaugural season in a down and dirty battle with the Acadiana Mudbugs. More than 1,400 fans watched as the Turfcats lost to the Mudbugs by a score of 37-29 at the Travis County Expo Center Saturday.

"I thought the guys gave everything on the field," said Turfcats Head Coach Chris Duliban. "We have to learn how to put them in a choke hold." Duliban explained the rowdy crowd full of friends, family and fans added to the nerves of the new team, but they will find their groove.

The nerviness led to three quick scores by the Mudbugs.

"[Nerves] are no excuse, you have got to have tunnel vision on the field," the coach said.

UL Football Former UL Star Earns Player Of The Week

It is good to see some of our former players doing good at next level. Kemmie Lewis earn the league first Player of the week award in the SIFL you can read more on his story www.southernifl.com

I didn't realize that the Mudbugs started already. Got their first win over Austin. Looks like the home opener is tomorrow night

LOL for a minor league indoor football team, they have a lot of dancers and dance instructors. 14 dancers and 4 different dance instructors/choreographers and only 26 players on the roster
