Let's look at some scenarios based off of how New Mexico State and South Alabama fare next weekend:

Scenario 1: (South Alabama takes 2/3 from New Mexico State)

Louisiana needs to:
a) sweep ASU and win 2/3 vs. USA (NMSU (16-8), UL (16-8), USA (15-9))
b) win 2/3 vs. ASU and sweep USA (NMSU (16-8), UL (16-8), USA (14-10))

In both scenarios above, New Mexico State is the #1 seed in the conference tournament. New Mexico State and Louisiana are Sun Belt Conference co-champions.

Scenario 2: (South Alabama sweeps New Mexico State)

Louisiana needs to:
a) sweep ASU and win 2/3 vs. USA (UL (16-8), USA (16-8), NMSU (15-9))
b) win 1/3 vs. ASU and sweep USA (UL (15-9), USA (15-9), NMSU (15-9))

In both scenarios above, the Cajuns would be the #1 seed in the conference tournament. New Mexico State and Louisiana are Sun Belt Conference co-champions in a). New Mexico State, Louisiana, and South Alabama are Sun Belt Conference co-champions in b).

Scenario 3: (New Mexico State takes 2/3 from South Alabama)

Louisiana needs to:
a) sweep ASU and USA (NMSU (17-7), UL (17-7), USA (13-11))

New Mexico State is the #1 seed in the conference tournament. New Mexico State and Louisiana are Sun Belt Conference co-champions.

Yes, assuming no more work emergencies, I plan on doing NCAA tournament projections the week before the tournament. Maybe I can get Jay to submit his as well. As for projections each week working up to the tournament, we at SEBaseball have input on the projections. Although I do not always agree with the end result. :-)

Jay and I also plan to get together on the Bird's Eye View soon.
