The 2014 college football season starts on Aug. 27 and continues into mid-January with the first edition of the four-team playoff.

Athlon Sports is counting down until kickoff with projections and previews for all 128 FBS teams.

A little lower than expected but Athlon is one that caters to markets that sell the most magazines. So by this standard not too bad.

Mission for football is clear: Get the G5 invite for the Cotton Bowl. If that happens we would already be in the top 25

Well that's a distinct possibility ; ) in all seriousness, with the down season that we had last season, I don't foresee Tech beating Cajuns this year.

Yep, we should have our best team this year. But I think ~60 is a reasonable ranking. Any lower than 60 and you're beating out mid-level major conference teams. That's a huge hurdle for a non-major conference team to overcome. We still have a long way to go to say we're better than a Texas Tech or Miss. State.
