Thread: New SBC Bowl Ties

I doubt Tulane will be bowl eligible, but that would be the best matchup. Having both teams routinely play in the N.O. Bowl would be good for the area.

This is so COOL Re: New Orleans Bowl potential Matchup

Papa john or independence would be a lot easier drive then st petersburg, but new orleans is definitly more fun than any of the others.

Only one bowl I'd care to be at anyway and thats the New Orleans Bowl! _

yeah, but 2 wins won't win us the conference and thus, we will not get to the NO bowl

We, as a fan base and program, have been DYING to go to a bowl for almost 4 decades. We start sniffing one, and everyone quickly puts parameters on which one they'll go to.

I live in San Diego, I'll spend the $500 for one plane ticket + hotel + game ticket to go ANYWHERE to see the Cajuns play in a bowl game.

No joke. Since I live in NOLA I would prefer the New Orleans Bowl, but only a family tradgedy would stop me from going cross country to see the Cajuns in a Bowl Game!

The New Orleans bowl would be the best thing for everyone. We would pack the dome with Ragin Cajun fans. Most would be staying in the city so they would need hotels. It would look awesome on national TV to see a sea of red in the Dome. Someone mentioned Tulane as a potential match up but I think that would be awful for the city. If we do make it. Who do you guys think we will play? Doesn't have to be a CUSA team?

Are you going if we play in it?

Who will we play? What the heck - how about Notre Dame.

  8. UL Football Bowls still wait-and-see on SBC teams

A quick word of advice for UL football fans: slow down on any plans for the postseason.

The Ragin' Cajuns (4-3 overall, 3-0 Sun Belt) entered this weekend tied for first in the league with Troy. With two more victories, they will be bowl-eligible. The conference winner earns an automatic bid to the New Orleans Bowl, which will air live Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

UL, which plays Florida International on Saturday after an open week, could be bowl-bound even if it does not win the league. If the St. Petersburg Bowl (Big East/Conference USA), PapaJohn's.com Bowl (SEC/Big East) or PetroSun Independence Bowl (Big 12/SEC) don't have enough bowl-eligible teams from their contracted conferences, the Sun Belt will get the first opportunity to fill those slots.

Sun Belt Conference Enters Agreements with St. Petersburg Bowl, PapaJohns.com Bowl, and Independence Bowl.

The Sun Belt Conference has signed agreements with the St. Petersburg Bowl, the PapaJohns.com Bowl and the Independence Bowl, which are effective immediately and will impact the 2008 and 2009 bowl games. Bowl-eligible teams from the Sun Belt Conference will be the first available teams in these bowls should the contracted parties not be able to fulfill their requirements. While the Sun Belt Conference champion will still play in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, the St. Petersburg Bowl or the PapaJohns.com Bowl will have second choice to select one of the Sun Belt’s bowl-eligible teams if the contracted parties are not be able to fulfill their requirements. The agreement signed with the PetroSun Independence Bowl calls for that bowl game to receive the third choice to select one of the Sun Belt’s bowl eligible teams if the contracted parties are not able to fulfill their requirements. The Independence Bowl would also receive the second choice to select a Sun Belt bowl eligible team should the St. Petersburg Bowl or the PapaJohns.com Bowl not have an opening.
