Awright, ya'll! State 5, SDSU 2...in the usual fashion of just enough offense and some dang good pitching. Now, ya'll take care of bizness here in a little while, and we'll see ya'll in the appropriate bracket tomorrow!
I don't think there's much worry about us facing yall tomorrow in the winners bracket. Yall lined up your best pitching for it, we'll need to come with our A game.
Actually, Coach C stuck with the usual Friday-Sunday SEC rotation that has been in effect most of the season, starting Fitts and hoping to get three innings out of him. Since we got lucky, and Fitts got in 'bout 7 good innings, that allowed us to save Lindgren for some other emergency. Mitchell has been the usual Saturday starter in the rotation, and it just so happens that he is--or appears to be--the best match against ya'll's lineup. He's usually a frustrating guy to hit against, but can be roughed up on occasion. He has thrown in excess of 140 pitches on more than one occasion, and it doesn't bother him. He's got such an easy motion and delivery, and that 84 mph fastball is tough to get under, so long as he's painting the corners. He's not going to fool anybody, just throws strikes in the low end of the zone and forces hitters to put it on the ground. He doesn't much care if he gives up a walk or two--that's just an opportunity for a double play on the next grounder to short. I will say that he's had trouble with heavier hitting lineups, but only those that are left hitting heavy. We shall see! Good luck with JSU.
Dang, ya'll. Guess we'll see you Sunday. Don't worry, we'll set those big bad Tigers up for you to eliminate Saturday mornin'.
They've definitely done their worst. We'll whup on 'em real good tomorrow, and ya'll can apply the coup de grace later. I have a theory about what happened. See, their bus caught on fire and burned up a couple of weeks ago while on the way to Savannah, Jawja. Barbequed all their equipment, not to mention the bus. Us folks at State and the TSUN folks (known to some as Ol' Miss) sent them a bus, and passed along some surplus equipment to keep them going. Out of gratitude for that, they made a superhuman effort against ya'll today. Little do they know that our sympathy for their loss does not extend onto the field, but they will come to that harsh reality sometime tomorrow afternoon.
