Thread: Greetings from an Ol' Dawg

Default Greetings from an Ol' Dawg

As a long-time big MSU athletic supporter (pun intended), I know the excitement of hosting an NCAA baseball regional, and you guys are due congratulations. Rest assured, among the MSU fans who visit Lafayette this weekend, you will find none who are among those doing all the smack talking on the message boards. Those guys are crying and moaning about tickets they never intended to buy, anyway. Just trolls. You'll find that MSU fans who actually go to the games are knowledgeable and congenial. We know good baseball when we see it, and we know how to appreciate it, win or lose.
But having said that, I can only wish you good luck in those games not against the Dawgs! Hey, it's only natural--besides, what MSU Bulldog doesn't dream of winning this regional, root for the Rebels to win theirs, so we can invade Oxford and take their super regional from them in their own place? I'll say this--combining ULL's bats and MSU's pitching would make for an almost sure winner in Omaha! With any luck, I'll make it down there Saturday.
The way I see it, it will probably come down to 2 out of three between the Dawgs and the Cajuns, and if you guys get the better of us, I'll root for you all the way to Omaha (NOT those stinkin' Rebels!).

Welcome BaldDawg........enjoy the weekend. It would be best you lose one of those L's when you arrive if you want to make friends easily. Just go by what's on the cap of everyone you'll see. It's UL. Second L was a gift from big brother 50 miles to the east. It's never been appreciated nor used by UL athletic supporters (pun also intended)

Ol' Dawg, you're a class act. You won't find a Cajun fan that isn't hospitable... until of course... we're playing each other. But, I assure you... everyone is rallying our team and chanting in fun at your team. I hope you and all of the State fans travel safely and enjoy your time in Lafayette.

OK. We Dawgs now only refer to those pseudo-aristocrats up north of us as TSUN (That School Up North). Maybe you guys should turn the tables on LSwho, and start referring to them as UL Red Stick!

UL-RS has a nice ring to it. But since they get their panties in a wad when we don't use our "official" name, we usually feel good about referring to then by their "official" name...LSUA&MC-BR

That would be Louisiana State University and Mechanical College at Baton Rouge. Also has a nice ring to it!!

BTW, ya'll--Lots of us Dawgs have gotten tired of those non-conference games against all the snowbunny schools early in the season, and those western teams always want us to go out there for the "honor" of playing them. How ya'll feel about playing State sorta regular? Speaking of which, I'm a little surprised that UL Red Stick scheduled even one regular season game with ya'll. Lastly, and this is kind of out of pity--could ya'll see what you can do about sending USM an invite to join your conference, so that they can escape the eternal damnation of being stuck in Conference USA? I sorta feel sorry for them.

Alright! A common whuppin' boy! Over here, we've started to refer to USM as Southern Missed--as in, missed out. First, they exhibited all that misplaced loyalty by remaining in C-USA, even after it became obvious that the conference was being used as a stepping stone by the likes of TCU, Houston, Cincinnati, Louisville, Central Flarda, South Flarda, and countless others that I can't even recall right now. Then, they sho' nuff' peed in their whiskey when they got rid of Jeff Bower, 'cause they wanted a "modern" coach. They can find 'em, but can't hang on to to a top-notch football coach, because they can't pay them what some SEC teams pay their assistants. Now, they're losing on a regular basis to the likes of Marshall and Western Ky. We took pity on them and scheduled a home and home--and the po' delusional orphans actually think they gonna beat us.

Now, I know this is a baseball thread, but I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everybody in the whole wide State of Luzianer for overlooking Dac Prescott, and sending him over to Starkville. Here's hoping that UL Red Stick will yet regret that.

And finally--now, I ain't usually one to pass along gossip, but I hear tell through the TSUN grapevine that certain elements among TSUN fans have become convinced that Mike Bianco is a UL Red Stick plant. Word is, his instructions are to appear to have built a top-notch program, but that TSUN is never to win the big game that will put them in Omaha, something they have only accomplished once many, many moons ago.
