We'll be at the London event so follow the launch live here from 6pm: LG G3 launch live blog and video stream.
"I'm writing to let you know that LG will be hosting an exciting event in London at the end of May to announce our next big global device after G2," said LG "With G2 being so well regarded, we have high expectations for its successor, as I'm sure you do as well. So to give our newest device a proper introduction in the presence of as many industry influencers as possible, we will be holding unveiling events in six global cities on May 27 and May 28."
A release date of June 27 has been rumoured but we'll be able to confirm this later tonight.

If you don't want a Samsung Galaxy S5,Sony Xperia Z2 or HTC One M8 then check out what the LG G3 will have to offer.
The LG G2 was announced in August 2013 and earned our Gold Award. It currently sits at the top of our best smartphone chart. In other words, we were extremely impressed with the phone and that means the G3 - or whatever LG decides to call it - has very large shoes to fill.
LG G3: Price

We can only speculate on the LG G3's price at the moment and it's a particularly difficult one to call. The G2 came in at just £399 which was and is a great price for a flagship smartphone, offering consumers at least £100 off its rivals - our money is on £450 SIM-free.
Whether LG does this again with the G3 remains to be seen. It would certainly give it one up on rivals like the Galaxy S5 and Xperia Z2 but we wouldn't be surprised if it comes in at a higher price than its predecessor – especially if the rumoured specification is true.
LG G3: Specifications

For starters, here's a leaked slide showing the LG G3 specs including dimensions, OS, screen, camera, battery and more. We'll explore each aspect of the G3 below.

Quad HD screen
A key feature of the LG G3 is its Quad HD screen which had been rumoured for a long time and ahead of the launch has been confirmed by LG itself.
After passing verified tests by NEMKO, LG said: "The certification comes shortly before the new Quad HD LCD panel will be unveiled with the forthcoming LG’s flagship smartphone to be launched in the first half of the year."
It's called Quad HD because it's four times the amount of pixels than 720p, also known as HD. The screen will be 5.5in in size using an AH-IPS LCD panel and a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. That means a pixel density of 534ppi.
LG told PC Advisor that a device with a QHD display will arrive later this year which is, of course, the LG G3.

A recent leak of a supposed screenshot showing LG’s subtly reworked interface for the G3. As well as flatter-looking icons – a nod to iOS 7 – the resolution is not QHD, but a smaller 1232 x 2048.

Octa-core processor
Moving on, rumours suggest that the LG G3 will be powered by LG's own octa-core processor called 'Odin'. This consists of four 2.2GHz Cortex-A15 cores and another four 1.7GHz Cortex-A7 cores. It uses ARM's big.LITTLE configuration meaning tasks will be performed by the appropriate cores, therefore saving power.
Other sources, including Ubergizmo, suggest a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with an Adreno 330 GPU. This would put the G3 level with rivals including the Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 and Sony Xperia Z2. This seems the most likely based on the screenshot below.

Improved camera
The camera is up for debate with rumours of both the same 13Mp sensor found in the G2 but improved OIS (optical image stabilisation) technology, and a 16Mp shooter. Either way, it's likely that the G3 will offer 4k video recording. There are rumours of a laser auto focus which is a feature mentioned in the screenshot above.

Fingerprint scanner
Like the iPhone 5s and Samsung Galaxy S5, the G3 is tipped to feature a fingerprint scanner. Details are thin on the ground but it would make sense for LG to position in on the RearKey – the physical set of button on the back of the phone introduced with the G2.
Personalised software
On the software side of things, LG is expected to add more 'advanced personalisation' features. The G3 software will "continuously adapt and learn your usage patterns and habits in order to offer you more personalised information", according to PhoneArena which spoke to an LG source. However, it's unclear how much of this is Google Now, not LG's own software.

Storage and battery
We'd already heard rumours that the LG G3 would feature a microSD slot (up to 128GB), but the latest leaked photo from Techblog not only confirms this but reveals a 3,000mAh removable battery. The device will come with 16- or 32GB of RAM.

Connectivity
The LG G3 will kick some butt when it comes to connectivity going by the rumours. It will supposedly come with Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, USB 2.0, Infrared, wireless charging and LTE-Advanced.

LG G3: Quick Circle case

The latest official word from LG on the G3 is a good look at the new QuickCircle case which will be the first accessory for the new smartphone. It's a follow-up the LG G2's QuickWindow case which used a rectangle rather than a circle.
For starters the video quickly shows the LG G3 before the case it put on. Like other cases with a window through to the screen, the QuickCircle case allows you to control the G3 without opening it. Users can operate the camera, control music playback, make calls and access other apps. Take a look at it in action below.
