I think Red Lerells (sp.) bought the old Borden's Ice Cream. They were talking about demolishing it and he stepped in to save it......

Judice Inn, Fat Pat's, Ground Pat'i on Johnston, Legend's on Bertrand all have great burgers.
French Press is amazing -- get the Cajun Benedict.
Dwyer's is pretty damn good, Antler's as well.
Hot Food Express for the Zee's Special.
Social was pretty solid but I've only gone once.
Taco Sisters for a smoked pork burrito.
    Johnson's Boucaniere for pulled pork.
Billy's for pepperjack stuffed boudin balls and smoked boudin.
Best Stop for regular boudin and cracklins.

I don't know much about Cajun restaurants because I just eat it at my mama's house.

    You nailed it.
Agave and La Fonda = bad Mexican food, decent drinks where people go to be seen. Tampico's is just bad. The law firm where my girlfriend works ordered a huge amount of food (40+ entrees) from Agave on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, a majority of them got very sick from the food. Stuff was coming out of both ends, if you know what I mean. On good conscience I would suggest that our Mississippi guests stay away from those three establishments. I prefer La Hacienda, El Potrillo, La Caretta and the places you mentioned.

Tsunami = another place people go to be seen. Food is good. Oishi is the best though.

Also, if you're looking for a finger food for your tailgate, you must get some chicken tenders from Steven's. We do this all the time. Pick up during the day though. Don't venture there at night.

As far as pizza and Italian, Alesi's is my favorite. Can't go wrong with Deano's though. For more upscale Italian offerings hit I'Monelli.

Also another great upscale environment is Mazen grill. Everything there is good.

Even the margaritas at LaFonda are horrible. The good thing is that after the 1st one, you don't care.

I've never heard of this place. And from reading the reviews from your link, it doesn't sound like it'll be around long.

Steven's and Hot Food Express are pretty similar from what I've heard. Huge chicken strips and shrimp fried rice.

Mazen Grill is awesome. The wife and I go there every few weeks, get something different every time, and have NEVER been disappointed

Cutting down a well liked restaurant to pimp one you like better must be the origin of the term "Bad mouthing"
