He wasn't recruited for a scholly by d1 but lower classes offered however he chose UL since he was promised preferred walkon status. Then had that taken away twice. He is still a fan UL tho.

Again cajuns need to go after some of our d players. The 3 d linemen are solid with churphy steward likely to be 4 star next year.

Like you said, these guys need the grades first

Just curious but are these kids hearing from other schools?

He said that UL never really showed any interest nor sent anyone out to watch them. I don't know now true this is, but it did come out of her mouth and she is a big football fan.

I am sure they want us to look at players, but do they want us to look at true 1A players. Come on think about it, UL ignores and does not want local high quality athletes for years. Yea that makes a lot of sense. Or does a coach have a hard on against UL and does the best he can to steer players to say McNeese his former alma mater, or anyplace else if 1A quality.

But if they have a stud, they discourage them from coming here.

If that's true, they want us to support the local players, but they don't support the local school.

Again, that's what we've heard. I'd love to know the true story here.
Personal allegiences aside, given how badly our football program has been run in the past and the lack of support from the administration, it just might be these "local" coaches had good reason to steer players elsewhere. However, that's all changing bigtime and anybody but a fool can see it so it'll be interesting to see what happens with these coaches' attitudes.

Just take a look at the roster starting from 5 years ago to now. You can see certain HS programs are absent. I went to Acadiana and I can't recall (aside from Justin Venable) any players playing for UL. It's pretty clear that Breaux Bridge is an LSU hot bed. I could be way off in my thinking that this method can give insight. JMO _
We had a receiver from Carencro, Bill Sampy on the team a couple of years ago. He did well while he was here and got a tryout from the Eagles.

Yes we get some players from those schools, but without any help from their staffs like they do for other schools.

    Sampy was a great player.

Recently it was stated that Big Dave was overheard to say to the UL coaches that he would help with recruits but not against lsu. Again, its the you can have the second tier locals. So instead our coaches go outside the area for a better player and the second tier local and his coaches resent us for wanted the best player out there.

I'm not too sure. A few of the guys are seniors but the big 2 are juniors this year.

And Hammer, I got that you weren't commenting on my relative. Like I said, he was recruited because he had tops and didn't need a scholarship. I do know exactly what program you are talking about from last year or a few years ago. Shame some of these kids don't realize what it takes and that they can get help

That wouldn't be any fun... we would probably get an immediate, undeniable answer to the question. It's much more fun to have a thread 80 miles long, pontificating, speculating, accusing, condemning, gossiping, ranting, postulating, denying, agreeing, disagreeing, slandering, supporting, sidestepping, segwaying, circling, rehashing... culminating with a sum total that equates to nothing.

If Jay participates too soon, it nips all of this fun in the bud.

Jay publicly stated in response to a caller's question on his show that Carencro has been one of the schools to be less than supportive or cooperative with the UL coaching staff. Next time the Barousse (sp?) brothers are on KPEL maybe the question should be put directly to them.
