3 our basketball team sucks
4 coach Lee sucks

Softball being #5 in the NATIONin an actual NCAA sanctioned sport??? Thats cr.ap mannot even worthy of being talked about

Other than #2, that list is very accurate. But hope spring eternal. I am expecting for a good year in baseball. I also hope Cajun softball fans have a lot to cheer about.

The start of Softball is a great day for the University every year.

LF - Gaspard
CF - Hubbard

C - Bowers
P - Cuevas
DH - Dupont

I could be really off base, but it is fun speculating. What do you think? _

  At the time, nobody realized the significance of the play.

When Ole Miss leadoff hitter and All-American Lauren Grill drilled a 3-2 pitch off the outfield fence and was subsequently thrown out at second base by UL left fielder Vallie Gaspard while trying to stretch the hit into a double, it seemed like just an exciting play to open the game.

As it turns out, that hit was the only thing which stood between Donna Bourgeois and perfection.

  Sometimes that Cajun hospitality can come back to haunt you.

With the UL softball team clinging to a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning, the Cajuns gave Ole Miss a gift. And the Rebels didn't turn it down, scoring three unearned runs on a Codi Runyan throwing error.

Ole Miss pitcher Becky Nye (1-0) made the lead stick as she capped off an impressive day by holding the No. 6 Cajuns to two runs on six hits in the 4-2 Rebels victory.

The Rebels' win came in front of a packed house of 1,017 at Lamson Park on Saturday. The two teams will conclude the three-game series at 1 p.m. today. UL won game one, 7-0, on Friday.

  UL softball coach Michael Lotief tried to prepare everyone in the offseason.

If they weren't listening, it's their fault.

A year after the Ragin' Cajuns made their fifth Women's College World Series appearance - knocking off No. 1 Florida in the process - Lotief approached the 2009 season with cautious optimism.
