Thread: Ashton Tyler Commits To Louisiana

  1. UL Football Ashton Tyler Commits To Louisiana

Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun offensive line has gotten little attention during this record setting season. But high school athletes like Ashton Tyler are more then aware of the guys in the trenches, as he became the Cajuns first official commitment to the 2009 class.

The Cajuns recruiting efforts are really starting to pick up as the season moves along and high school prospects read about Louisiana’s record setting offense. Saturday was a big day for the Cajuns, as a large group of prospects attended the homecoming game against FIU. The Cajun football program came away with its first official commitment of the season in Ashton Tyler, Scouts #159 ranked offensive lineman in the country. Tyler spoke to the Cajun RedZone this morning about his decision to commit to UL, over Louisiana Tech.

The 6-6,270-pounder made a name for himself this summer when he attend a camp a football camp at Southern Miss and manhandled 4-Star prospect Darrington Sentimore of Destrehan High.

In-season verbals? I don't remember this happening often in the past.

And 6-6, 270 as a HS senior is enormous!

not quite a ringing endorsement of this kid by ESPN, I hope they are wrong. I like his size, but after reading this, I guess you never know.

If I recall correctly, our first commit last season and a real early one at that was Joe Duhon. He was "one of us" until about a week before sigining day and then he decommitted and signed with USM.

Me, I'm interested in the ones who actually sign with us.

Hello, Dave?? Mr Obama says we have 57 states, right? Lets say we have approx 110 football playing highschools in each state(probably alot more, but just for comparisons sake lets say 110). 110 X 57 =6270 football playing schools. Each school has a center, 2 guards, 2 tackles= 5 o-linemen (starters) 5 X 6270 =31,350 o-linemen in the USA Our guy is ranked #202 by ESPN.....Dave, I'll take him.

I agree Z, I think the kid sounds like a horse and a good one. But just passing information here.

    Right....

    Where is my toilet?

Z I am considering flying in, from Va, if (when) the Cajuns are guarenteed a slot in the New Orleans Bowl.

You, me and Pirouge have to hook up if I can make it happen.

after reading the ESPN review it seems the kid has athletic ability and size he just needs work on fundamentals. If brad bustle can start for UL (did not start in highschool), this guy can learn and be a big help. You can't teach a kid to grow 6'6" but you sure can give him pointers. I'll take him!!!
