Thread: New Tradition

  1. #1

    Default New Tradition

I really like the new tradition of the players running the stadium shaking hands with fans after home games. The players seem really appreciative and the fan contact is good to.

BUT the University needs to tell the on field security/police on the field by the hill to ease up a bit. Look fans just want to shake players hands, meet the players, or get an autograph. WE aren't going to go on the field, we aren't heckling the opposing team, and we don't have WMD's so pump the breaks a little.

A certain police officer tonight was close to cuffing fans for going to the rim of the hill for trying to keep this tradition going. Shame. Get everyone on the right page please.

I'd imagine the police feel pretty uneasy, the number of people running loose are vastly greater than they are used to...Not to mention, dealing with the Children of the Corn in the grass for three hours would most certainly push most people to their limit of sanity.

That is a solid gesture by the players and fans as well! As for as the fans on the grass ease up fuzz geaux grab a funnel cake or two!

one thing I think is cheesy is the fencing to keep fans back from the bottom,I think it looks horrible! But the bottom line is WE ARE WINNING AND ITS A BLAST! GEAUX CAJUNS ONE AT A TIME

You are right about the fencing in the endzones! However, there is a greater problem and that is the grass itself. I was watching some of the replays on the bigscreen and they had it from the endzone angle so you could see the south endzone and the grass hill and it looks horrible. You've got trash everywhere and it just looks so high school. This is why I'm not a a fan of putting people there. I think everybody should go to a seat and it would really help with making the stadium look full. I can't wait until they close in both endzones with additional seating so this problem can be eliminated.

What you see as horrible is in fact a testimony to a great time. New Orleans measures success of Mardi Gras by the tons of trash collected post events. Nobody is worried about how the place looks after the game.

This is a case where you let the fans have fun, and buy some extra insurance.

Dude you gotta understand three things about what the world thinks of Louisiana:
A: New Orleans is considered to be the center of Louisiana and the Party Town of America.
B: Mardi Gras is considered to be the best expression of a great party.
C: Cajuns are third in rank of who resides in Louisiana.

Now what needs to happen is:
A: A football game, emphasis game, is just that a game, and games imply fun.
B: It is a football game, and you enjoy it the way you want, and let others enjoy it the way they want.
C: If you want UL and by default Cajuns to move up into spot A or B in the eyes of the world and Oh Yea Metro Lafayette you need to heed D.

If your passion, and your disappointment is about a bunch of trash, and people having fun AFTER the game, then you have some real issues.

Couldn't agree with you more Express! One thing for sure though, people think what they think and us rehashing this every week on this board isn't changing any minds.
I will be on thie hill next week while my kids run around. They will come back to Houston and tell their friends how much fun UL games are because of it!

No, what I see as horrible DURING the game is what people will see in a televised game which all of our home games from here on out represent! I know several of you here love the hills to let the kids play and that's fine and all but I'm just saying is that it would look so much better to have these people in the stands, endzone areas clear and people cheering.

Are you trying to say there wasn't just as much trash in the stands after the game?

The Lawn is one of the most unique parts of the Swamp and I'll gladly look at all the trash on it after the game if it means it was full of people during the game.

It doesn't matter where people are sitting, be it on the grass or in seats, as long as they are in the stadium for and during the game. No need to worry about the empty seats, if the program continues to progress the way it has, those empty seats will take care of themselves.

My only major complaint about the game was the band. I think they are very talented and just wish the director was a little more organized and they would play more music during the game and at certain and crucial points of the game. It seemed to me that more music was played over the stadium p.a. than by the band, which is a shame, because our band is more than capable of playing any of the music that was played over the loud speaker. For example, at one point the cupid shuffle was playing on the loud speaker and I looked over at the band ad they were just sitting there; I turned to my buddy and said "This would sound so much better if the band was playing it right and I bet the fans would go nuts"

That's just my take, I could be wrong.
