I've seen coaches make pitching changes throughout the season when they had a multi-run lead and their pitcher had not allowed any offense in several innings. Of course, they went on to lose the game. When your ace has been effective enough to give you a lead after 5-6 innings, making a change makes no sense. Some of these coaches overthink things and post season is not the time to stop trusting those who got you to this point.

She booted it and a run scored. The next batter hit a high chopper that scored another run and they got the 3rd out at home on a girl trying to score from second.
Do not think that Nebraska will lay down and die for the Tide. Alabama may win the next game, but they will have to work for it.

Which is why I like Sierra Romero to win it, but, most likely, it will be Ally Carda that gets it.

I understand the thinking, I think.
    1. Same reason Mike put in Jordan in game 1 of the Super Regional: see if you can get an extra pitcher some post-season experience. Erase the jitters in a somewhat less pressure packed situation. Of course, Mike did this with a 7 run lead against a Texas Southern team he wasn't going to lose to, but whatever.

    2. Keep the same team from seeing your best pitcher's pitches too often. If memory serves me right, we blew out Arizona St. and Michigan in game 1 of the SR the last 2 years. Once they figured out our one pitcher, we were headed to the house (especially vs. ASU).

    3. Save your pitcher's arm for game 3.

But in a SR, when the game's tight and you only need 3 outs, I think it's dumb to take out a hot pitcher. I think history shows that's the case.

If we win game 1 I would throw Wallace in game two and bring in Brown if she gets in trouble. We have the bats to punish their pitching so we can afford to get Wallace some work.

Hamilton pitches every inning unless the score is out of hand either way

You may have seen coaches switch pitchers and lose the game, but how many times have they done it and not lost the game. The point is that it is done a lot through the season but no one remembers except for the bad outings.

I agree Hamilton pitches every inning of every game. They are not going to take any chances.

Well in all fairness not quite the same, but I get the point. Jordan woke up Friday morning not feeling well, Mike had planned on pitching her again.
