I've heard (and have recordings of) ESPN broadcasters mixing it up and using "Louisiana" (while covering Sun Belt contracted games) so I know there is leeway.

Besides Karl Benson "said" UL could do what it wanted and the Sun Belt would follow suit. So whoever Dan is getting his marching orders from must have missed the memo.

ps Not Dan's fault, seems that no one in the Sun Belt got the message from Karl. Probably related to or brought on by the self inflicted illegal hyphen debacle that happened earlier this year.

The SBC under Benson gave us an opportunity to grow a pair, instead we hyphened. The SBC will not call us Louisiana because that is NOT what we wanted to be called. ESPN is not the SBC network. No doubt you have your views on this, I do not agree. SBC Network will call us everything but UL or Louisiana. Dan needs to protect his family, he is not a friggin millionaire doing this for fun. Neither would virtually everybody on this board who claim they are nutted up.

But isn't it odd that we can be "Lafayetted" to death by SunBelt announcers (not Dan) and the conference doesn't seem to take action there? No doubt our admin screwed the pooch in that naming fiasco but Benson and the conference staff are all too willing accomplices.

Agree about Dan, though I would like to see him let a ?Louisiana and Ul "slip" every now and then. If Karl complains he can just give the Blutarsky explanation"You ____ed up, you trusted me."

He might be getting way too much, but he does deserve some. He is another finger that could help make the media fist which says what you guys want it to. Or he could be the middle finger that flips off those who don't want to respect a school which will be a national seed in the two major college spring sports. How many mid major programs in the history of mid major programs can make that boast? Dan knows what's right. Whether he chooses to do it is another story.

If this conference fired someone for insubordination, or incompetence every time they screwed up, there would be no one at the gate to collect tickets, or call balls & strikes. So find another argument which will hold a little water please.
