I've heard (and have recordings of) ESPN broadcasters mixing it up and using "Louisiana" (while covering Sun Belt contracted games) so I know there is leeway.

Besides Karl Benson "said" UL could do what it wanted and the Sun Belt would follow suit. So whoever Dan is getting his marching orders from must have missed the memo.

ps Not Dan's fault, seems that no one in the Sun Belt got the message from Karl. Probably related to or brought on by the self inflicted illegal hyphen debacle that happened earlier this year.

One other thing to consider is Dan's wife and Dan own McD Media and Dan is pretty much the face of the company.

I'm sure one of the reasons he is stricter than he needs to be is to protect his contracts.

The SBC under Benson gave us an opportunity to grow a pair, instead we hyphened. The SBC will not call us Louisiana because that is NOT what we wanted to be called. ESPN is not the SBC network. No doubt you have your views on this, I do not agree. SBC Network will call us everything but UL or Louisiana. Dan needs to protect his family, he is not a friggin millionaire doing this for fun. Neither would virtually everybody on this board who claim they are nutted up.
