Hopefully, Alumni Assoc. puts some kind of group event together so a bunch of ya'll can make it over from Lafayette.

Brought family to ASU game, but really can't do another until UL comes to Troy.

The home side looked extremely barren during the 4th quarter as well.

I'm really starting to like Doc. Savoie. When we were going back to our seats after halftime, he was on the sideline on the student side, jumping up and down celebrating the Cajuns like us students were! As he was walking back around to the home side, he was congratulating the band and giving us high fives and such. He seems like he's going to be a big supporter of our athletics as well as our academics, if this wasn't already apparent!

Another fine game by the Cajuns. Good to see they took Des and Fenroy out. No need to expose them to injury. I gave other guys a chance to play and get experience.

Great crowd, Jake was there giving autographs almost the entire fourth quarter. A really class act.

While I'm sure there were some problems here and there, I don't think anybody could find much to complain about tonight. A really nice football experience that was fun for the entire family. I did notice a lady had a medical emergency on the lower level but the EMT's were right on it and it looked like everything was going to be OK with her.

This was a great college football experience. The crowd was loud and into the game. The 29k plus is the best crowd attendance because it was all of our own fans without the help of the other team. There was no FIU crowd to speak of. This 29k was all ours. A really awesome game.

Errors hurt FIU as Louisiana wins

LAFAYETTE, La. -- On Saturday at Cajun Field, the University of Louisiana celebrated the 1,000th game in the history of its football program.

The Ragin' Cajuns also were playing their homecoming game against FIU, which obliged and played like a traditional homecoming opponent.

After taking a seven-point lead into the second quarter, the Golden Panthers imploded.

FIU turned the ball over twice and incurred several crucial penalties helping the Cajuns score 28 unanswered second quarter points en route to a 49-20 win.

''We started out fast,'' said FIU coach Mario Cristobal, of FIU taking an early 14-7 lead. ``We started out like we wanted to. Then the team that we prepared to be, the team we pride ourselves on being, disappeared after the first quarter.''

In the second quarter, either an FIU penalty or mistake helped the Cajuns score their four touchdowns to take a 35-14 lead into halftime.

Ahead 14-7 early in the second quarter and coming out of a timeout, the Golden Panthers stopped the potent Cajuns offense on a fourth-and-3 from the FIU 8.

However, FIU was whistled for offsides, giving UL a first down. On the next play, Cajuns running back Tyrell Fenroy ran up the middle for a 4-yard touchdown to tie the game.

After the extra point, officials gave Cristobal a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty.

''They said that our corner, who was in press coverage, was over the line of scrimmage,'' Cristobal said. ``I don't know what to say. That was the explanation that we got at the end of the game. We never got one during the game. We were supposed to get one, but we didn't. I was demanding an explanation and I kept demanding and demanding and they said I couldn't demand so there it was.''

The offsides penalty was just the start of the Cajuns avalanche of points.

Nine seconds later, FIU running back A'mod Ned fumbled on the first offensive play after the kickoff.

Gerren Blount scooped up the ball and returned it 22 yards for a touchdown to give the Cajuns a 21-14 lead.

On FIU's next possession, quarterback Paul McCall was intercepted by Derik Keyes, who returned it 63 yards to the FIU 4.

Two plays later, Fenroy scored the second of his three touchdowns to make it 28-14.

''We got to be consistent,'' said McCall, who was 9 of 21 for 85 yards and one interception. ``I had some bad throws. The line was picking up the blitz I just got to put the ball on the guys and do a better job than that. Good teams react positively no matter what gets thrown their way. We need to get back to doing things right. We can't let things snowball like they did today.''

The Cajuns buried the Golden Panthers with their next two scores.

After a 50-yard punt by Carlos Munera, FIU had UL pinned at the Cajuns 6, but on the first play running back Julian Shankle ran 28 yards through the right side of the FIU defense.

Cajuns quarterback Michael Desormeaux capped the 94-yard drive with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jason Chery for the 35-14 halftime lead.

On the opening series of the third quarter, FIU stopped UL on the first two plays setting up third down and 20.

But on the third play, the Golden Panthers forgot to cover a wheel route down the sideline as a wide open Richie Falgout caught Desormeaux's pass and went 82 yards before safety Jeremiah Weatherspoon knocked him out of bounds at the FIU 1.

Fenroy plunged 1-yard for his third touchdown on the next play.

''We lost our composure,'' Weatherspoon said. ``We just have to practice on being perfect this week. We have to be more disciplined and we have to know that bad things are going to happen and we got to react to them. We have to be more resilient that's it.''

Louisiana's RB becomes NCAA top active rusher


LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Tyrell Fenroy scored three touchdowns and broke 1,000 yards rushing for the fourth consecutive season to help Louisiana beat Florida International 49-20 on Saturday.

Fenroy ran for 81 yards on 22 carries, which put him over 1,000 yards on the year for the fourth straight time — a feat only six other players in Division I-A history have done. The Louisiana tailback now leads all active NCAA players with 4,322 career rushing yards.

The Golden Panthers (3-5, 2-2 Sun Belt Conference) jumped out to a 7-0 lead on T.Y. Hilton's opening kickoff that went 90 yards for a touchdown. After Michael Desormeaux, who was 13 of 19 for 216 yards and two touchdowns, connected with Ladarius Green on a 6-yard score, Julian Reams' 1-yard run put Florida International up 14-7 after the first.

Fenroy scored from 3 and 4 yards away in the second, and Lalaf Gerren Blount returned a fumble for a score to help the Ragin' Cajuns (5-3, 4-0) build a 35-14 lead at halftime. The record-setting tailback would score again on a 1-yard run to put the Ragin' Cajuns ahead 49-14 after three quarters.

Not to be too picky, but did this guy not notice the history that he witnessed i nFenroy's 4th consecutive 1000 yd rushing performance? Not one mention of it in the story. I know this is FIU hometown paper but its good publicitiy for folks in the Miami area to realize that FIU is playing in an improving conference with good players even if they are playing for the competition.
