Now that we've settled which bowl we'd like to be in and who we'd like to match up against... I hope we win the coin toss.
It also matters where people go because there are bowl contracts up for negotiation and we don't have the greatest track record of strong ticket sales.
Put the Trojans in Birmingham and the Cajuns in New Orleans and you have the #1 and #2 strongest bowl ticket sales in Sun Belt history. Before deals come up for negotiation, not after.
I hope it plays out this way. I can't disagree with some that think the more prestigious the bowl, the better. But, the brighter spotlight will come and go pretty fast. 90% of the benefits are gained by making it to a bowl, but having a huge Cajun NO bowl inside the state will echo in the recruiting halls well up to and thru signing day. We will massively attend that game and will draw many vermillion folks out of their fan closets. That is what we need just as much as a bowl... to reconnect with our dormant fans in a huge way.
He rubbed elbows with me at the game. First he got a pic with me and then went and got with Jake Delhomme. The stories that kid will have to tell his grandkids! LOL!
Saw Lafitte last night too and chatted for a few minutes. Man, he looks like he has the world by the tail. Got to say hello or wave at Crawfish, Express & Mrs Express, the Funster and CajunMike and GeraldH as well.
All in all, a great evening.
