This Softball team is why you don't win on stats alone you have to play the game! Don't get me wrong Louisiana has some strong stats, but this stood out to me. Arizona and LSU both averaged right at 9 and 10 runs per game in the Tempe, Arizona Regional. Louisiana held Arizona to an average of 2 runs per game and averaged 6 runs per game against them in the Lafayette Super Regional that UL won!

There is no doubt the versatility of our offense is under rated by a lot of the media. I think the Baseball America guys get it and understand we win with gorilla ball and small ball unlike anyone else. As long as we get a national seed we have a short cut to Omaha. Today is important to lock dat up.

Not so apparently by all the important baseball media. Nobody has us not at least three. ESPN is not a baseball expert media IMO. Even when they hire experts they have an agenda and that is viewers. The agenda also includes building the SEC Network.

I don't think the non-Lafayette broadcast media understands what we do, based on comments from announcers, as in "They strike out a lot.", "Lead the nation in home runs last year and second this year", etc.

I think we'll hear more of it until we double squeeze two runs across in Omaha, to steal a game. With our speed and athleticism we will do very well there.

I don't think the term small ball is acceptable for what these guys do. I know that's the given term. But what they do has brought the concept to a whole new level. They play non-stop pressure on the pitcher, pressure on the catcher, pressure on the middle infield baseball every single inning. They do it like no one else I've ever heard of doing it. maybe others have that I haven't followed. But I never saw or heard of it like these guys do it. It's a combination of Bill Murray movies all happening at one time. It's What About Bob because the other team knows what these guys are going to be doing once one of them gets on the base paths but can't deal with it mentally. It's like Ground Hog Day because they're going to do it inning after inning after inning. It has to be extremely disruptive & disconcerting to any pitcher they face. The only solution is to keep them completely off the bases. That means you better have ace pitching. Because they don't just slam their way on. They bunt their way on, hit by pitch their way on, walk their way on.

I was listening the other day & Conrad wanted a base for getting hit by pitch. The umps conferred & I remember thinking dude your one of the best hitters in the country what do you even want a base like that for? Next thing I know, the guy has the pitcher throwing wildly to first & he's on third. By the time he was done screwing with that pitcher's head, UL was well on their way to a nice three run inning. I'd like to know if anyone made a complete game against them this season.
Al this crap about what they could or couldn't do against the SEC is BS. If they were in the SEC they'd have driven that whole conference RPI down dramatically because half of those pitchers would be in therapy by the time UL got done dealing lefts & rights to the side of their head. It's like death by a thousand cuts. And this team is a master surgeon. I don't care what league they're in this season. This team is the best team in the country.

I agree. Small ball is shorthand and watered down. They combine speed and power that does not exist anywhere else in college. I remember talking with some other former player parents in March, very astute, know the game very well. We were all basically sitting mouths agape at the ability and versatility of this team. When I asked former players early in the year, they said this was without a doubt a strong Omaha team. Nobody will be surprised to see a lot of the position players, maybe a few pitchers having productive pro careers.

I'll second that & up one more time. The reason I know this team is going to win t all & cost me ten K in the process is because the only way any team can beat them twice in a row, is to do what they do & do it better. Can someone name me a team who can do what this team does & do it better? This team will NOT lose two games in a row this season. That means they are going to win it all. What I'm starting to realize about the women's team, is they play like the guys do.

They could go out without losing two in a row in either the regional or super regional round (or CWS). But I get what you're saying.

Although they would say otherwise, I doubt Paul Mainieri or Spencer Turnbull want any more of us.

They could, but they won't. The simple reason is even if they get into the loser's bracket, the team they face will also be in the loser's bracket which in all likelihood will have pitched their ace. The only way I see them losing is if they end up facing two team's aces back to back & both of those ace's having the games of their lives. I heard a lot of people use the term that's baseball to say it could happen. But it's gonna have to be baseball conspiring to get this team. Because there isn't another team out there who can play the up tempo game this team can force & play it non stop for five or six days in a row the way this team can. That's why their road record is so incredible. They can go anywhere, and face anybody in the country & box their ears. The whole national seeding thing is now just a question of respect. And I think the NCAA has more respect for the other potential national seeds than to make them have to play UL in a super regional. Because they have to know how good this team is.
