You're probably right. But SC, Vandy, TCU, and others are higher in the pecking order than LSU. LSU is on the bubble to even host. They may not even be a #1 aeed, although it's getting hard to deny them that if they keep doing well in the SEC tournament. But they're on the bubble at 16, not at 8.

All of these are locks. There is only 1 spot left.

That spot is between S. Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Louisiana. If Louisiana wins the Sun Belt tournament and has 53 wins, I doubt an early exiting Vandy or SC can grab it away from Louisiana.

In any event, the 5th place SEC team isn't supplanting a 53 win team with a 6 or 7 RPI for the last national seed IMO.

Also, LSU is not out of the national seed picture. If they were to win the SEC Tournament, they would have a shot. Do not forget that they are looking at overall conference record when determining placement in a conference … along with whom 1) won the regular season title and the 2) conference tournament title.
