South Louisiana PublishingHAMMOND — The euphoria of a weekend Sun Belt Conference sweep over New Orleans hasn’t worn off yet, and one of the highest-ranked opponents that Louisiana will face all season is lurking this weekend.
It’s a prime situation for a letdown tonight, when the Ragin’ Cajuns travel to face the Lions of Southeastern Louisiana in a makeup of a previously rained-out contest.
“Southeastern doesn’t care what we did this past weekend,” Cajun coach Tony Robichaux said. “The 52 hits we got last weekend won’t have anything to do with this game.”
The Cajuns, 20-25 but winners of five straight and 13 of their last 18, were originally scheduled to face the Lions (14-27) at SLU’s Alumni Field back on April 9.
Tonight’s 6:30 p.m. contest is the next-to-last mid-week outing of the year for a Cajun squad that travels to meet fourth-ranked Nebraska (33-11) in a three-game series this weekend.
