    I agree with Turner and the point CDeb raises through his question. Keener Cagle deserves to be up there but we may never know his number. (I am still looking)

    Yes they did use numbers back then but only on the back and they were not publicized. All the pictures are frontal group pictures.

    If you go to 1925-26 link you can see the player with #12 I doubt it was Cagle.

    i think he is more upset with damon mason's number than the picture themselves, what he was trying to say is that we could probably find someone elses number to retire besides damon mason.

    Honestly, I loved Damon, but I didn't think he deserved the retired jersey treatment. But he's one of the best human beings to ever wear vermilion and white, so I've gotten over it.
