
WordPress.org today announced plans to drop support for Android 2.3 Gingerbread in its WordPress mobile app. The company explains that Gingerbread usage has been on a steady decline in its app, recently declining below 10 percent. As a result, WordPress 2.9 for Android, which is slated for release “later this month,” will drop support for Gingerbread. All new versions going forward will only support devices running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or later.
