Thread: Barr, Dison back on practice floor for UL basketball

  1. Default Barr, Dison back on practice floor for UL basketball

Two pieces to the puzzle for the UL men's basketball team returned to practice earlier this week.

Juniors Jeremy Barr and Brandon Dison rejoined the team for full-squad practices on Tuesday.

Barr, a 6-foot-9 center, missed the first three practices of the season for personal reasons. He averaged 5.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game last season at San Jacinto (Texas) College.

Two weeks ago at Sun Belt Basketball Media Days, UL coach Robert Lee said Barr was the only Cajun to have secured a starting spot for the 2008-09 season. Barr played as a freshman at USC and signed with Nebraska before going to SJC.

This is why I get a kick out of fan jibber jabber. Heck, the Cajuns may as well not even bother showing up on November 15th according to this LaTexter fan and his pals. I seriously doubt his coach and team are looking at it that way.

But I agree with Juice (LaTex) is MUCH better than UL. I was at that game last year and (LaTex) will be WAY better than the team that beat them last year

Hope springs eternal in the offseason. The beauty of this year is that we can measure ourselves against both Tech and LSU. Looking at Tech's starting lineup, I can see why they are optimistic.

The LaTexsters have a couple of impressive transfer big men, one of whom I know Coach Lee recruited hard but according to many astute posters at their forum, they are missing a true PG this season. We know what that's like. Getting them in the Cajundome in the first game shold be a help to our sorry talentless team.

I know it's odd seeing an adjective like "astute" used with a garden variety LaTexster sports fan but a few actually are. LOL!!!
