Who will be the quarterback?

Most indications are Rodney Peete will open the season as the starter. Anything, though, is possible for a team that has changed quarterbacks just before the start of the season the past two years. Peete, a veteran, has looked good in training camp and solid in the first two exhibitions. He is the safe choice, but there are other options.Jake Delhomme has shown signs he can run the offense efficiently. Chris Weinke has had the brightest moments in camp and exhibitions, but he's still third on the depth chart.

Whichever direction the Panthers choose will have positive attributes. Peete showed he can lead last year, Delhomme has good intangibles, and Weinke has the strongest arm. What has happened so far is the best-case scenario for the Panthers.

Jake was 11/11 123 yds and 2 tds tonight. QBed all three of Carolina's scoring drives. Did have one fumbled snap at the end of the game. I know it's the 4th preseason game and it's not really taken all that serious, but all in all, it was an excellent game for him. It seems as if Peete is the coaches choice right now, but Jake definitely did not hurt himself tonight.

Coming from a Gamecock and Panther fan.Jake fell to 3rd string after last week.But after watching him tonight.I fell he'll be a solid backup for the Panthers this year.Weinke throw a coupe of skip passes tonight with men wide open still a 11-16 night for him.4-5 for Pete and 11-11 for Jake.Pete is still the starter.But In my opinon Weinke and Jake have looked much better than Pete.Pete better not slip to much because Jake and Weinke are right on his heels.I didn't know Jake went to ULALA for his college football.He's a great QB.Ya'll should be proud of him.Can't wait to see you tommorow.
