been a long time since ole miss engendered much real ill will--i just didn't like archie getting involved with the san diego thing. at least elway had baseball as leverage for his threat; eli just had daddy insinuate himself into the deal. bad form.

    Your ignorance is showing...
Steve Smith was a special teams guy when Jake got to Carolina... Mahhamad was "washed up" according to experts and he led the NFL last season.

Jake manages a football team, and he gets the ball to his playmakers...

Put Jake on any other team, and you'd have a virtual unknown as an MVP candidate - Pro Bowl starter... and that's the way Jake likes it.

It's a crime he didn't make the Pro Bowl last season... he had a much better year considering the circumstances.

  3. UL Football Bears defense will be true test for Delhomme

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Jake Delhomme has played some magnificent football in his five playoff games with Carolina. That's where his reputation as a big-game quarterback has been cemented - he's 4-1 as a playoff starter, with seven touchdown passes and one interception.

Delhomme's quarterback rating in those playoff games, including Sunday against the New York Giants, is 105.1. To understand how good that is, know that Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning led the NFL in the 2005 regular season at 104.1.

But Delhomme has never faced a defense in the playoffs as smothering as the one the Chicago Bears will try to blanket him with Sunday.

How No.17 handles it - on the road, against a vicious, well-rested Bears defense that rocked him less than two months ago - will be a huge part of whether Carolina can advance to the NFC Championship Game.

That Jake Delhomne is one lucky Cajun boy. He keeps getting those all pro receivers. Wait Mohammed did not have a good year in Chi Town. Well he is one lucky Cajun boy, because he escaped the franchise of despair, the New Orleans Saints. The team that sent not only him but the St Louis quarterback away while keeping good ole Leon Aaron Brooks. Talk about gratitude Mr. Brooks is the man who did not back his linemen when someone was trying to rip his head off, did not back his owner, or coach in a very bad situatition. Yea, I am so happy Jake with his meager talent is now a rich son of gun who has a great opportunity to get to the Super Bowl again. Jake.

  5. UL Football Delhomme focused

RALEIGH, N.C. - The last time Jake Delhomme faced the Chicago Bears, they forced the Carolina Panthers' quarterback to try and beat them virtually by himself. He couldn't do it.

Delhomme was sacked eight times, threw two interceptions, fumbled and was pummeled all afternoon as the Bears won 13-3 on Nov. 20.

In that game in Chicago, the Panthers fell behind early and gave up on the run. But this Sunday, when the Panthers meet the NFC North champion Bears in the second round of the playoffs, Carolina is planning to run frequently and with force.

Delhomme said the Panthers must run the ball and grind the clock to win.
"I love to be able to watch our guys run," Delhomme said.

Carolina's formula for winning is the same as most football teams on any level - run with authority and frequency. It's a cliche in the sport, and many teams preach it but don't practice it.

    The Panthers live by it.

So they have continued to give the ball to their backs in an NFL season during which receiver Steve Smith has been the central figure and the ground game often has struggled.

Look for the panthers to draft 2 runningbacks this year.. one early, one late...

With their main 2 always getting hurt now I wouldn't doubt it. I think they'll do it in the first round and try to find a hidden gem like Denver does in the 6th or 7th round.

The paper indicated that Jake would try to win with the run, instead he won with his arm. It is high time Brandon abandon the losing tradition of the Manning family and resurface as another prime target for Jake. With Smith, and Stokley, and covering their flanks the Panthers can be a force for seveal more years. Brandon is not getting his fair share with the Colts. Who did Manning pick to throw the ball on 4th? Then they take him out again. I like 44 but still Brandon is simply not getting his fair share with the Colts.

The Panthers won't be getting the cream of any position picking 32nd.

I know you guys arent big LSU fans, but I really believe Addai would be a great fit for the Panthers in the second round.. if he is around that late in the second... He is rated by espn as the #5 rb... If they go first round Lendale White may be there, but more likely deangelo williams, who isnt really the correct style for Carolina

  10. Default Delhomme - Top Rated Passer in NFL Playoff History

ESPN Radio has been touting Delhomme as the hightest rated passer in NFL playoff history today. Have not found any links to verify this but feel free to post any links regarding his playoff pass rating.

    WTG Jake!
