The fact that he got consideration for Pro-Bowl voting isn't a sign that he's overhyped, it's a clue that the NFC is light years behind the AFC in terms of real probowl quarterbacks. In my honest opinion, they should put Delhomme's name on the probowl roster and beside put: Jake Delhomme (Steve Smith)

Haha sorry guys, but I got to UL after Delhomme was gone and being a die-hard Saints fan, I just can't get on the Jake Bandwagon. It's good to see a UL grad make the probowl, and I hope we have many more to come.. I might change my mind about Jake if he decided to stop wearing the stupid jersey with the floppy sleeves...

Jake Delhomme has completed 12 passes of 40 or more yards this season, tops in the NFL.

  4. Default You guys will get a kick outta this one (Jake related)

I don't know how many of you saw the Panthers/Falcons game yesterday but the funniest damn thing happened.

Jake got sacked and Keith Brooking ended up somehow ripping a huge hole in the seat of his pants... he went hobbling off to the sidelines and no one really knew what happened until after the commercial when they got... ahem... wind of what happened.

They had to call a timeout but the equipment guys managed to stuff a towel down the back of his pants and tape him up so he could finish the drive (in which he got us all the way down to the endzone for a TD, thank you very much... ). He managed to get a new pair of pants before the next possession but it was funny as heck.

Fox Sports even put at the bottom on the ticker "Key Drive: Repair of Delhomme's Pants"...

This thread is nothing without pics... so check out the attachment.

As well, here's an article about it and a VIDEO of Jake laughing about it after the game. He was a good sport about it but I think I'm STILL laughing over this one. It was a classic moment in sports history all right... and of all the people for it to happen to....

I was totally amazed at Jakes ability to dismantle the Giants defensive hand signals after only one drive.

First off, I dont remember ever saying anything about the Saints except for the fact that I am a fan. Second, you dont have to convince me that the Saints suck, I already know that. But they are still the home team, my team, and whatever kind of piece of ____ team they put on the field I will be behind them 100%. I wasn't trying to convince anybody that the Saints were better than the Panthers or anything like that, so I'm not sure how that all got started.

My point was that the NFC doesn't have many stand-out quarterbacks that are OBVIOUS choices for the probowl. Delhomme had a good season, but he's nothing without Steve Smith. Case in point, against the Giants today he completed 15 passes, and 10 were to Smith. Put Jake on a team without a big-play receiver like the Ravens or the Seahawks, and THEN you'd see how talented he really is...

That is kind of circular logic. You can say the same exact thing for every QB in the league. How great would Peyton look if he didn't have a ton of quality receivers? The QB can't throw to receivers who can't get open.

I'm glad you're still a fan of the "home" team. They need all of the fan support they can get. I've been a Saints fan since 1967. But I'm tired of supporting the crappy organization they've been since Day 1 (with a few exceptions). The words and actions of the owner this past season have totally turned me off of this franchise. That was just the straw that broke the camel's back. I will not put another dime in that man's hands. I am sorry for the team and the many Saints fans. They've been some of the most loyal fans anywhere and deserve better. Until Benson is gone, they won't get it though.

He was something last year with Mohammed, set a club record passing to him and sent him to the Pro Bowl, this year it is Smith. In his first year it was Smith and Mohammed. Jake set records with Brandon at UL. The Panthers would have been a lot better off keeping an older Mohammed, and shipping USC 2nd year man away.

Nobody said Jake it the best thing since slice bread, we just all knew he got the shaft by Hasless, and Oh, by the way the fans got the shaft that season as well with a lame AB trying to win one game against three teams with dismal records. It cost Brooks any hope of fan support. Hasless in time revealed what a dufus coach he really is. Jake is fine in Carolina, and I am very happy he got out of football heck. Heck, I say, and Archie backed it up when he refused to let his youngest son sign with an organization he felt was in the same vein as the New Orleans Saints.
